A decision on new ACTION buses is imminent, with the choice between Scania and MAN.
Unlike some other Australian public sector bus undertakings, ACTION took a cautious approach to compressed natural gas.
With a fleet of over 430 buses, ACTION has to look very closely at two important factors; that of keeping operating and maintenance costs at the lowest possible levels without sacrificing efficiency, and public acceptance of its services.
A trial of a new fuel that is better for the environment will start in Canberra on Tuesday 1 December 1992.
