In years gone by, Adelaide was the only city in the world where you could buy a tram ticket to Paradise.

Now you have to make do with a humble bus to reach the Pearly Gates of Paradise!

Read "Destination Paradise" for a good account of the Paradise trams, one of the longer tram routes to outer suburban Adelaide operated by the Municipal Tramways Trust (MTT).

Something that has changed since my last visit is that with the introduction of the new ticketing system & ticket machines on the trams. The clippees aren't used like they use to. I've only seen the Citadis Trams with old ticket equipment & these are the only trams that the Clippees sell tickets on. So once the new ticket system is fully rolled out. I suspect Sydney (for a short time I suspect) will be the only city in Australia with Clippees on the trams.

Understand what you're saying about the 'clipees', Bus 400....although in modern times, the Bay Tram clipees weren't dedicated conductors; they were just tram drivers having a rotation on the ticketing side. Usually, two drivers would be teamed up on a single tram, each alternating between driving and being ticketing conductor from one run to the next....a good arrangement for keeping the job interesting.

The Tidbinbilla Extravaganza was on again this year, sadly the buses only went from the carpark area down the hill to the main stage area (in years gone by they took patrons around the park, but now you drive yourself around). So I ended up catching Buses 491 & 498 & an ex-SNT bus that is now painted up for Tidbinbilla (the other ex-SNT is for Birrigai).

Today the RTA/RMS held a community day for the (soon to be opened) Holbrook Hume Highway Bypass. The public were invited to catch a bus out to the bypass & walk in the middle of the road (& not be killed by a car going 110k/hr. Anyway below are the buses I went on after getting off at various points & tried this walking on a highway & not being killed & seeing the Australian Labour Parties most loved leader open the highway.

Kanes Buses
Bus 40 (Mercedes Benz OH1830L, Express bodied)
Bus 46 (Mercedes Benz OH1418, ABM Starliner bodied

Rather then listing every bus/train/ferry I've been on on my first week in Perth, a brief description is:
Mercedes CNG & Diesel (old & new) buses
Volvo diesel buses (standard & articulated)
Volvo hybrid
A & B set trains
A ferry
Travelling from Alkimos in the north to Dawesville & Pinjarra in the south to Midland & Kalamunda in the east, Rockingham & Fremantle in the west & Perth in the centre.

Sorry for not having STA fleet numbers and train fleet numbers but i didn't note them down and can't really remember.

Now, I can tell you all about Sydney trains.

Busnerd

I'm sure you can. Seeing as I work there, I don't really need to know any more than I currently do.

smitho

348 for afternoon runs.

Despite having AOA on both sides and on rear, this was otherwise a very good Scania gassy in every way; thought it must have been someone's shift bus, but quick look through its log book indicated otherwise...different drivers every day.

King of Buses

I got that COC of a bus yesterday on a 300...

And many others. ..including 362 far too many times...there nothing wrong with the bus just...other reasons...

Got 964 for half a shift yesterday....only the second time I've driven an orange bus all year, for the times they are a changin'...for the other half, got 537 (nice!, ...even without a paddle)

It's a Scania artic, crap is the correct description for them. Certainly bought by price and not product.
They are future irisbus like workshop hogs in the making.
Should have bought MAN or Volvo bendys

Is this because of the Scania engine, or CB 80 body? Man make CB 80s as do Volvo, (I think)

I just can't stand those late Scania's bendy or rigid. All the Scania's before 534 seem to have a nice classic Scania engine (with that nice sound when the bus finishes accelerating) but 534 to 559 don't have that sound (have not ridden a 560 to 5## yet). Even the Gassies have that nice sound, (not that I would rate them above CB 80s.)

As I'm moving COMPLETELY of topic and will probably aggrovate some moderators for: Not sticking on topic, I shall stop my yap.

Different transmissions I believe. Therefore different sounds. By the way, only the gas Scanias,  steer tags and artics 506 to 525 make the sound in question. Artics 526 to 538 do not and none of the euro 6 Scanias do either. As for 527 and 528...they make more sounds than they should...and that's not a good thing...they tend to whine...

I only like 535, 538 and 565, 362, 478, 487, 513 and 519 out of the Scanias as they are slightly more decent than the rest. But I do totally agree that MAN or Volvo buses with superior bodies (I.e. not Custom) would have been a better choice than Scanias.

I won't dare bring up my beloved 725 as I know The Love Guru will give me the Merc talk again...

I might as well mention I got 489, 324 and 536 today to have at least something relevant
