In early 1977, the Department of the Capital Territory followed the example of London Transport in deciding to preserve examples of their older vehicles for posterity.
On 1 July 2020, an era came to a close when Bus 116 – the last remaining ACTION Renault PR100.3 – was retired from service.
The first buses to operate in Canberra were three Graham Dodge Charabancs, two of which were purchased in 1922.
Kingston Depot closed on Sunday 5 July 1992. The days before the closure were filled with activity transferring the more than 100 buses which operated from Kingston.
