Title: Special Liveries in Australia
Post by: Snorzac on July 06, 2011, 11:15:56 PM
Thought I would start a thread here to showcase and get people opinions on special liveries around the world as they are rolled out, some are really cool.

Qantas yesterday unveiled a 747-400 in livery for the Wallabies 2011 World Cup bid:

This goes with their 737-800, which is operating with Jet Connect.

If you ask me the 737 is pretty bland but the 747 is really creative, note the Kangaroo on the tail.

Noticed a modern Deane's bus last eweekend carrying an impressive AOA for Canberra Raiders; quite a novel design for Deane's.

Good design, good marketing.

Ah, yes - you're right. One of the best AOA's I've seen in a long time.

Following on with the Rugby World Cup win of NZ, Air NZ has three aircraft with more to come in a 'Crazy About Rugby' Livery, the newest on their brand new 777-300ER ZK-OKQ:

The Crazy about rugby livery is one of the best seen anywhere in the world, I absolutely love it and it is loved by mostly everyone who sees it! Kudos to Air New Zealand for doing something bold, and something a little different from just a few stickers on their plane. Step up, Qantas, Giant All over Wallabies livery please!

Tomorrow the Wunula Dreaming will depart Australia fro what is likely to be the very last time as the current aircraft (747-438ER VH-OEJ) heads to Xemian for a repaint. The livery has been around since 1993 on two different aircraft, it is unclear weather the livery will be resprayed or not. The current airframe has worn the livery since new.

VH-OJB as Wunula Dreaming (Original Aircraft)

OEJ (Current Aircraft)

This will leave 737-838 VH-VXB 'Yananyi Dreaming' as the only remaining Aboriginal Liveried Aircraft

VH-VXB

and for the benefit of the post here is the third livery which met an early end with the scrapper, 747-338 VH-EBU 'Nalanji Dreaming'

Who knows if it will be returned in a special livery. I have not heard anything on the grapevine, so hopefully it will come back in Wunala just with the new logos.

It's a MINI ONE! Super cute! They may do an ATR as well, then. I am waiting for them to announce this as their livery :P
