Interesting detail. BUS748 is pictured in today's Riotact displaying what appears (partially hidden by bike rack) a BUS748 registration plate, but an ACT Rego check indicated that there was no registration record.

Photo of the Month / Photo of the Year - Round 1
Last post by Barry Drive - December 02, 2023, 09:45:51 AM
Photo of the Year voting time is once again upon us. As has been the case for the last few years, there will be 3 preliminary voting rounds - but this time each round will consist of only 7 photos.

Each preliminary round will commence on a Saturday, with the final round to commence on 26 December.

Photos have been scattered across the rounds to allow for an even distribution of monthly winners - but order in which photos are presented have been randomised.

Here are the first 7 entries. Top 3 photos (where possible) will advance to the final round.
_______

1. Bus 400

2. Bus 807

3. Bus 934

4. Bus 808

5. Bus 374

6. Bus 666

7. Bus 982

Quote from: Barry Drive on September 23, 2023, 01:05:53 PMWe may not have any news about the buses, but there has recently been a contract (awarded to Simeco Electrical) to install the infrastructure at Belconnen Depot to support the two bus chargers.

Contract end date is 14 December 2023.
Any news on progress? Presumably the 4 Elements cannot enter service until this work is completed.

Also, the duty of connecting buses to chargers has apparently become the preserve of refuellers. Seems logical. Probably obviates 'Sorry, mate, I forgot' events with drivers parking the bus as normal and going off shift.
However, are there issues with refuellers needing to be on duty late each evening to plug the buses in? Or does this fall within normal refuelling duty periods?

It is necessary both environmentally and to support Government publicity, that the whole electric fleet is utilised to the maximum, and thus details like support personnel duty times are arranged to support that.

Wow, still finding them around huh. Does anyone know the reason for the window panels being that colour?

Hey guys, sorry to dead post, but I did find some bus stops in between Wyong and Newcastle along Princess Highway. All three of these bus stops have a fibreglass seat with what looks to be where a timetable used to be, and they all have a metal plate directly above the bus shelter gantry way

Quote from: Busnerd on November 29, 2023, 01:20:27 AMPerhaps they should have ordered some more Elements given they managed to deliver four in the time BusTech delivered one bus.

Seem to recall that quite a while back there was some doubt as to whether the Element order had even proceeded related to ability to supply.
Also it was reported that when the Scania delay became apparent that the Gov looked into getting an alternative supply with improved delivery with no practical success.
(People commentating on media articles enjoy labelling this as a failure of the Minister/Government but what in reality can be done if a Contracted performance is not met and other potential contractors can't do better? The reality is it is an industry failure.)

Quote from: Barry Drive on October 25, 2023, 11:12:48 PMIt's mostly a rehash of the previous statement - supply chain, etc. - but the key message is: of the 17 Scanias still due to be delivered, 9 will arrive before the end of the year (if you can believe it) with the remaining 8 in early 2024.

Not looking good. It is now 9 weeks since last delivery, BUS730. It is always possible though, that they will turn up as a bunch or only a day or two apart.
