ACT Bus Photo Policy

- Maximum of 10 Photographs per thread
- Maximum width of 820 pixels. (Landscape - 820x547, Portrait 547x820)

If you do not know how to resize your photos, please try this website:

Photo Usage
Photos posted on ACT Bus may be uploaded into the ACT Bus Gallery. Where this occurs photographers will always be credited. If you do not wish to have your photos uploaded please make a note of this in your threads.

Constructive Criticism Only
Posts that are critical or rude in nature without offering any real advice will be removed. Repeat offenders can expect to be warned. Members who persist after a warning will be banned from the photography section until the moderation team decides to allow them to return. Members can also be added to the "mod queue" whereby all posts by that member must be approved by a moderator before they appear.

ACT Bus wishes to offer a more friendly community in which you can post your photos. Sites such as Railpage and Bus Australia are often far too critical of members who are just starting out in transport photography. We aim to provide feedback to allow you to improve your skills.

Photographs that focus on graffiti tags are not to be posted as we feel this gives the artists recognition that they crave. Any such photos will be removed. In exceptional circumstances such as the 754 Incident, this may be overlooked.

Failure to adhere to the policy
Members who breach this policy can expect to have their photos removed where they are larger than the stated limits. Repeat offenders will be warned.

The Inspector

I just uploaded pics and only 4 in each post becouse when doing attachments it said 4 only, atleast I now know its 10 pics per post  :)

Thanks for pointing that one out - the 4 attachment limit is probably more of a callback to when we had a smaller server. I'll update the settings so 10 attachments can be made.

We've moved to a new server!

Since the website has moved to a new server with unlimited storage and bandwidth, perhaps it is time to review the restrictions on photo sizes?
Technology has advanced at such a fast pace that 820x547 seems a bit archaic when you consider that mobile phones today can easily take pictures greater than 4032x3032 ;)

A fair observation ;)

2009 was a simpler time

Just be careful with the unlimited storage and bandwidth claims.  You will also be governed by a "fair use policy" and this policy negates the unlimited wording.  In essence, even though the hosting company says you have unlimited storage and bandwidth - you really don't.  They will send you nasty emails or messages if you exceed your fair usage amount - they may even take the site down if you exceed fair usage quota.  So just be careful - unlimited is not unlimited.

One other thing, is this site in a shared hosting environment or are you exclusively using the server?  A shared hosting environment means other web sites are also using this server but with a different account.  Depending on who or what those websites are may cause issues with the performance of this site.  We use a dedicated server for our site - it may cost a bit more but it is definitely worth it.
