A few of us like to do these so thought we should have a new topic for it and gather them all here. I think there are a few in the "What bus did you catch today" thread, so if the admin could move those here that would be great!

Wow I can't believe I read all that. That sets a pretty high bar for transport summaries to try and beat (don't worry, I'm not gonna try).
Anyway, for future- ride your fair share of diesel MAN 18.320s :P

Well there had to be something wrong, didn't there.
Cause, yeah, that 2nd listing should be 18:320... (refer to graph)
I've spilt my routes between Weekday & Weekend, I don't keep a proper record of each bus & this data has come from my online transactions.
But I did a total of 428 individual trips, which is good considering for about a month I caught no buses & had big breaks during periods.
My MyWay fare total was $389.93

Some of the 313-343 may be short trips, but the biggest surprise is the 250.

Previous years the 900 has always been my fav route for some reason. Some of that has to with where I'd park on a Saturday afternoon.
First, congratulations to King of Buses on most detailed and comprehensive analysis of travels undertaken. Agree with Bus Fanatic, 'Wow'. Second, Best Wishes to all for 2017. Third, here is my minor summary.
ACTION 2016 travel:
Boarded: 654
Rides: 653 (Bus failed to leave boarding stop on one occasion)
Rides with fleet nos recorded: 651
Of present fleet of 430 (includes loop buses), recorded ridden: 361
Of 25 buses withdrawn in 2016, recorded ridden: 12 (including 490)
Most boarded buses: 415, 430, 474, 956, each 6 times.
Non ACTION travel:-
NSW trainlink; Sydney trains, light rail, buses, ferries; Melbourne trams; Adelaide trains (electric and diesel), lightrail, buses, tourist cruise type ferry, model engineers steam railway.
Most interesting were Adelaide buses 1418 City to TeaTree Plaza and 1107 (bendy) return using the O Bahn (guided busway) both ways; and route J1X Airport Express both ways between City and Airport Terminal on bus 1790 the double decker being trialled on this run. All on 29/7/2016. Notably J1X service fares are just the standard Adelide metro and it goes direct to the Airport Terminal. So why not ACTION!
Along the Murray River system there are 14 vehicular punt (cable tethered/operated) type ferries at 13 sites (one site has an adjacent pair). In 2016 12 were used (with car) and the remaining two were used in 2014. Now rhere is something different.
I have been using ACTION buses, to minmise car use and avoid parking hassles, since 1999, but only recently decided to note buses travelled on, I made a list on 20/8/2015. Some, from scattered records made for non-enthusiast purposes from mid 2014, could be immediately ticked off. I learnt quickly that some effort was needed in regard to unrecorded buses likely to be withdrawn and likewise effort is necessary as the unridden list gets small. Present status:
Buses still to record a ride (9): 302, 321, 384, 515, 516, 616, 620, 951, 964. (622 not yet in service, so doesn't count.)
Buses withdrawn since 20/8/2015 missed out on: 877, 878, 880, 886, 887, 895.
I've run into a few calculation issues with my results, so mine won't be up for at least another month or 2.
All I can say for now are the goals that I achieved - that I can think of off the top of my head right now:
First bus of the year has to be old (PR2, PR3, Dart) ✓
Last bus of the year has to be old (PR2, PR3, Dart) ✓
250+ rides on PR2s ✓
Ride any known trial bus 3+ times ✓
Ride 1000 buses for the 5th consecutive year ✓

Never mind about that, turns out all the buses I caught over the past few days really helped me to get the job done. It would've taken much longer had I tried to get it all done at home. (This took at least 14 hours to do anyway).

For those of you who made it to the end of this, Happy New Year! As for those who didn't, well, I won't mention what happens as you won't be reading this to find out! 😛
Here is my brief overview for 2017.
Boarded during year: 766. Includes 2 identity not recorded, 7 short rides (one or two nearby stops), 5 same bus again on a day (with 2 occasions being same route no. but short and same again do not coincide).
For 764 identified buses.
Most rides in any one bus: 6 on 466, 468, 478.
Details
6 rides 3 buses
5 rides 14
4 rides 25
3 rides 62
2 rides 130
1 ride 130
Buses active in 2017 not ridden in 2017: 89
Most boardings in one day: 14 on two occasions.
The majority of all boardings through the year relate to ordinary personal travel for non-bus enthusiast purposes. Some boardings however were solely for rides on specific buses, or delayed until a specific bus appeared on the journey intended. I do not have the inclination, time or stamina for intensive riding for enthusiast purposes.
Periods when all currently active buses had been ridden at least once
19/4 only
21/4 to 1/5
8/5 to 10/5
7/6 to 16/7
30/10 to date.
(The gaps are the result of new buses entering service and needing to be ridden)
Have a great 2018 everone.

Since you are going to exceed 1000 why not up the anti and aim for 2000 or even 3000?
Also why are 652, etc "Unidentified"? If you can identify them as 652 or 653 and so on then they are identifiable, hence not "Unidentified"
The 1000 is still achievable, just have to catch a few less buses a week to manage it. I usually have 200-400 buses to catch at the end of a typical 1000 year anyway, so I've just done it a little too much in a hurry now instead of later. I didn't add the school holidays into my calculations yesterday so that'll help reduce by another 50~ to worry about too.
Also, the 'Unidentified' is referring to what I call that particular class of bus as they don't fit with any of the others and as I have yet to decide - in my book I'm just calling them 'blue buses' for the moment.
I would've done the same with 712, 135 and 621 under their own title, but I already have classes that they can fit under.
Before you say "just call them Bustech's then", the way I decide is the same way I've always done it, without help - as though I never found this forum and had to make it up on the spot myself from unexpectedly riding one for the first time.

...you are going to exceed 1000...
After much time and effort I am just keeping it under 900 by the end of this week. Being sick for most of September/October certainly helped with this, and the fact that I'm likely not to get many in December will also help. I have managed well, but I will certainly learn from my mistake for next year.
By taking binoculars on days I plan to bus hop...
Would normally post this on the last day of the year, but given I was still on a bus as the clock struck midnight last night, I'll do it now instead.
So, 2018...

formatting on the forum is too hard
Yeah, I know right, it's rediculous. Even trying to get one correctly formatted table without lines is a pain and takes hours on end.
I've finally understood it myself after endless experimenting, I can help you with any formatting you wish to use, just let me know.
Finally finished most of last years stats. Could've done each bus boarding times, but as I do all of this by hand, it would've taken WAY too long.

Buses ridden before retiring:
135, 145, 147, 148, 150, 151, 711.
Unknowingly missed buses - mostly often due to not knowing the decommission date prior to the log book being written:
900, 901, 912, 915, 941, 954, 100, 101, 103, 104, 106, 119.
Unknown status buses (written in due to the extremely unlikely but possible chance to ride said buses):
920, 921, 105, 120, 2619, 803, 924, red-merc (unknown rego).
Missed Fleet:
117, 306, 309, 310, 312, 313, 318, 387, 334, 337, 390, 394, 397, 399, 404, 411, 412, 418, 419,

The following bus stats are what I've done specially for the forum, as I forgot to do it myself in my book. I'll try to remember to do it for this year (no promises) to make things easier on myself, as this process does take hours. They all combine standard trips with bus-hopping and (have yet to come up with a better name) time-wasting-bus-hops/strategic-bus-hops. I could do them separately, but it would take much longer and I can honestly say I've lost my patience to work on this anymore and all the formatting of tables/lists grinds on the nerves.
The following stats are as accurate as possible, with maybe a few stops/routes left out due to my own incompetence. I also despise the new platform numbers at the Woden and City Interchanges, so I'm keeping them the way they were in any of my log histories. As I'm
still trying to memorise all the new route numbers, it's tough enough as it is. Adding a platform number series at more than one interchange on top of that? For starters no thank you and f*** off!...
