679 (254) Noted The Valley Ave back in use.
For the sake of completeness, Transport Canberra states The Valley Ave came back into use on that day.
Unknown (45) - Scania K320UB, Custom Coaches CB80 vehicle.
592 (45) - Via Verbrugghen Street deviation to service Copland College; albeit there is no school today.

I think you're onto something here. Certain Belconnen ARTIC shifts are being covered by EUROs this morning, and I too haven't seen any Volgren-bodied ARTiCs in service recently.
I don't think they're on cricket duty because Qcity are supposed to be doing the charter runs.

676 (313S) - thought I'd stand in the middle for this whole journey, certainly is much less fun than the Renault Artics :'(
949 (62S) - probably the last ever 62S from home I'll get, at least with a P2 - going down the hill of Learmonth Drive, looking out the window, reminiscing the probable fact that my first 21 years ago was probably a P2 too.

I am curious as to the reason why you were not impressed; personally I suggest that you should have travelled the entire route to Gungahlin Place, that would have given you a larger sample of the route to conduct an assessment based upon.

Notes re Shuttles: Side destination usually 'S' for shuttle, but perhaps 'secret' is more appropriate - the services don't show up in bus books, on 'Real Time' panels, bollard departure listings, and platform guidance and TTs at bus Interchanges; except for a small placard with TT at actual departure platform. No wonder passenger loadings are sparse. Detail though is to be found on TC web site.
At Cohen St Interchange, platform 1 is used. You would have to know to go to it. From the street it looks unused with no defined pedestrian route. This service is the only opportunity to board a public (as opposed to school) service at this platform.
It is only possible to ride both Shuttles on the same day Wed-Fri incl.

I thought this was going to be on-demand, so how does round-trip sole passenger work? Sounds like a waste.
Also I can find any details other than 'details will be available by commencement of the network' on the website, so can you provide a link?

I don't seem to be able to provide a direct link. Go to transport.act.gov.au, find and select 'Getting around' then 'Timetables' then 'Routes by number'. The routes are grouped by Rapid, Peak, SHUTTLE, Regular and School. Select in shuttle for more detail.
Just as normal, line up at stop and wait for bus. Trip is free (a driver said free because routing not loaded into MyWay system ???).
PS Belconnen Interchange outbound is now Plat 2 not 1.

Re-reading your post, I didn't answer this properly. The key is, that as presently implemented, they are not 'on demand'. They are ordinary timetabled services, but with rather limited information (except on the TC web site) compared with other regular services.

- Reaching Cate Crace St appeared to take left turn by mistake. Continued back to The Valley Ave via Efkarpidis St and Hinder St.
- Mapleton Ave is closed East of Flemington Rd, so diverted Flemingtonh Rd, Nullabor Ave and Wimmera St back to Mapleton Ave.
- Included Bimberi diversion, as per timetable, after driver was alerted by a passenger when the right turn lane was selected in Sandford St at Flemington Rd.

Note: Approaching Eloura St there was a horn blast and very severe brake application to a full stop. After easing forward into Eloura St Station, the driver came back through the vehicle to check that the 'emergency braking' had not caused any injuries. The stop was that severe. Fortunately, no one had fallen or come off a seat. I didn't see what the problem was, but from the stopped position, I would speculate that a pedestrian had obliviously walked in front.

Note 1 Full length from Cooleman Court Interchange Plt 3 to Woden Interchange. Bus, waiting in layover, presented late at Plt 3. Tapped on 8min after timetabled departure. Paused Heysen/Preston timing point F for nearly 5min. Arr Woden and tapped off 9min before tabled arrival time. Over 20min of allocated journey time not needed. One wonders just how Transport Canberra assessed new network journey times?
Note 2 On R4 travelling N pulled into Marcus Clarke stop behind R3 also travelling N. Pulled out and left before R3. Tapped off R4 at Cohen St Interchange and waited for R3 tapping on 5min later. This is a good example of unavoidable difficulties of timekeeping experienced in otherwise routine operations. 2 services together at 1st stop beyond City Interchange are 5min apart at the Cohen St Interchange. This was in the evening peak. (From experience,on another day, it is just as likely that R3 would have been gone before the R4 reached Cohen St Interchange. It is not predictable.)

I am impressed with all the airtravel Snorzac is reporting, and with the stamina needed to enjoy the experience in the cramped seating (or was that business class? or are you a cabin crew member?).
I just enjoy flying. Working for an airline does come with benefits. A lot of this travel is at the front of the aircraft....

Although nice to have a direct route to Knox street now, I really don't think that service needs to be
that rapid, esp not at the time I was there. Also, can now confirm the network '19 slogan 'Better Connected' is bullshit. Couldn't even connect to my scheduled previous R9 from the trams, cause the asshole driver left Dickson 2 minutes ahead of schedule - on a short route like that, that is unprofessional, especially as the driver did it again going back the other way, nearly forcing an old lady to wait for the next one...
Quote from: Sylvan Loves Buses on September 23, 2019, 09:05:48 AMQuote from: Busnerd on September 22, 2019, 10:05:49 AMI highly doubt any local route will wait for a rapid connection
Yeah, it's not the 1980's anymore.
Which is why the whole Dickson Interchange thing in my opinion was a waste of time and money. If the drivers can't even be bothered waiting, Stage 1 couldn't spend a few extra dollars allowing the u-turn at the actual interchange, not at Antill or 100m down the round, then wtf was the point?
Probably best to refrain from calling drivers names such as that, this is not the place for that, if you wish to lodge a complaint about a drivers conduct I have no doubt the folk at 131710 will have all the required resources to properly answer your query.

I believe you have made a mistake there, you would have not travelled on or driven 301 on Saturday, as the Irisbus Agoraline fleet is not used on weekends; the only possibility is that you took it for a drive within the depot as part of your shift.

I've seen much worse things said over the years of content on this forum, I could've said what I actually though, but I won't for all our sakes. Also refrain from telling me TC's phone number, not only have I known it in its unchanged state for over 20 years, but I do so report such things every time it happens, just like the needle stabbing going on behind me on a bus yesterday - 'you see something, say something'.

Adding, interesting journey time comparison. 1st trip, early afternoon, 1hr 24min and on time DFO; 2nd significantly shorter trip, after school finish, 1hr 30min and on time at Fraser West! The latter trip encountered stop-go congestion from the National Gallery to the Parkes Way exit from Commonwealth Ave.

Both the short-run services from St Edmunds are way overtimed. They regularly start 15 minutes late and still get to Fraser west 5–10 minutes early, so it is unusual that that short-run trip started pretty much on time and still got to Fraser West exactly on time. (IIRC even the service that started 20 minutes after it from St Edmunds still arrived at the same time as the earlier short-run trip!)

The R5, R6 and 182 come pretty close depending on the direction, otherwise yes. So many routes are now hour long, oof.

It is required by the rules of this thread that you must post the route in addition to the fleet number; there is no point in posting a fleet number without a route, it would be equivalent to being an EL2 without a team.
Quote from: Toyota Camry on November 10, 2019, 02:26:38 PMIt is required by the rules of this thread that you must post the route in addition to the fleet number
Firstly, no it isn't, and secondly if posting the route/direction, riding not-in-service's, other information that breaks a forum rule such as directly giving away a drivers' shift allocation or others' privacy, then that's also a no. You'll get your comment removed (or worse) if you intentionally mention you rode such and such bus on a dead run for example - I would know.
If you refer back to the very first comment (http://actbus.net/forum/index.php?topic=7.msg19#msg19), you'll see there's no such rule.

As for those who are still wondering about Renault's, I've done the hard work for you (with some help from KoB) to find out the current networks increased Renault activity. I'll certainly be following this with the remaining weekdays left before the revised network starts and screws all this up.
This is as good as it gets for now, so if you want to ride those endangered buses between now and the 23rd and after the 10th before buses like this (https://i.imgur.com/VsIVB9y.jpg) (https://i.imgur.com/VsIVB9y.jpg) replace it, the best times for Renault's are: 6am-10am around Belconnen, and if you're lucky to find the stragglers still around when you can't think of something to do to kill 4 hours, the next wave doesn't hit Woden till 2:30pm (and obviously City and Belconnen during peak).
May have only ridden 17 Renault's today, but with more strategic timings and drivers not running early, there's definitely potential for more.
Quote from: Sylvan Loves Buses on December 13, 2019, 07:48:49 PM982 (R6W) - weird how some drivers were still taking the Hospital detour
The TC Alert says avoiding Hospital Rd in effect till 24th Dec. If this is the detour you refer to, then
not taking the detour might be weird.

Now with all that bus hopping out of the way, I have 13 more buses left to catch over 3 allocated days before the end of the year to achieve my 1000 goal again. Half way through the year I thought I would exceed the 1000, so I got many lifts from people and look where that got me...
*Incase you're wondering what '∀rtics' is, It's my shortened way of writing 'Volgren Articulated Buses'.

That would've been nice, but no I only rode the two shuttles a short distance. If I had, the direction letter would've been 'L' for loop.
Also if you noticed, the R9 appears to be the best option if you want to ride every type of bus. Dunno if this will be the same over the next few weeks, but that's a lotta options for one route ;D

I feel it really needs to be said. We are in the middle of a pandemic (it's not over) and somehow it's acceptable to ride 44 buses for no other purpose than enthusiast riding? How is that essential travel? Your actions just seem so tone-deaf and irresponsible to me.

Every bus I ride I consider 'essential', otherwise I would have ended my suffering and killed myself already - my life is not worth living if I can't do one of the things I enjoy. Besides, at least three quarters of those trips will have no one but me riding them or an average of 1-4 others. What's irresponsible how is ****ing many idiots there are in the shopping centres, at least half of what I've witnessed is sure not-essential. I've giving up shopping any later than 9am, it's too hard to keep 1.5m away from anyone at that point...

Now that Network 2020 has been confirmed for next month, I'm gonna have to crack on with some more bus hopping if I want more P2s before I lose all the routes they're on. Managed 100+ of them already this year yay, but the more the better.

How much of each trip do you sit on the bus for? If it for the full length of each trip then I tip my hat and salute you - but if it is only for 1 or 2 stops then I think the bus drivers would be getting very annoyed with you. I've been on a bus a few times and seen someone getting on at one stop and getting off at the next stop. I just think they are lazy sods (I notice many do this in civic).

I'm curious - what was it like with the trainee driver?
Not too bad, she did quite well, only time she had trouble was when she had to ask the trainer which left turn was the right one off of Kings Ave.
Being basically an old R5 with no one on it, the trip felt normal, but I had a nice chat with the trainer, so that was a good distraction from the sights I've seen many times before.

Sorry, this is incorrect. I continuously mistake my own writing in my log book. As I have each value of 25 bus trips at the top of each page, I keep forgetting that this number means the last trip on that page not what I already have. After today I am up to 498.

685 (R5S) - Choice between crowded R4 or quiet R5, both were listed buses. Regardless of which I would've decided on, the choice would have always been the R5 cuz I'm smart, I know the R5 goes the same way as the R4 does now, unlike the hundreds of mindless-Woden-bound-sheep I see.

*Full Trip (or close enough)
**Bus Hop (1-5 stops)
FYI, I judge bus hopping by the time I spend on the bus, not so much how many stops I am on for. If it's ridiculous like going from the Westfield Station to Cohen street or the other way, I will ask the drivers permission first. After setting my 77 trips in one day, and 46 P2's in a row in one day records, I decided to refine my bus hopping parameters, and time instead of stops was one of them.

Only 3 of each Iris and Scania CNG to ride to ride them all once each this year. Now the CSA's have been sacked, I have to resort to my old methods of finding these buses. Was lucky to get 317, 331, 336, 353 and 373 when I did today.
I've also achieved riding 200+ 2's and have ridden 99 Scania CNG's before riding as many Euros/Bustechs, yippee!

Of any buses I was expecting to see yesterday, they could've included 967, 114 and more likely 490 (of which I did get), I was certainly not expecting to see 155 (or what's left of it) being towed out of Belconnen Depot. I thought all the Darts were gone already, what was 155 still doing there?
Anyway, another 37 buses I can't be bothered writing down. Honorable mentions were: 308, 311, 315, 932, 934, 935, 973, 974, 975 and 490.
Not really the relevant thread but the remaining darts which were stored at Fyshwick have been coming to Belconnen for final decommissioning before getting disposed of either through Pickles Auctions or in most cases Access Recycling

For those of you (including myself) who had doubts I would manage the 1000 buses again, I can safely say, there's no way I won't. Another 32 buses today - two more of those this month and I'll be set as I only need 75 more.
Honorable mentions today: 303, 305, 311, 313, 925, 932, 960, 969 (first trip), 979 and 981 (last trip). 305 means all Iris 2020 ridden this year. Was trying to locate 355 after one sighting all morning with no results, hopefully next time I'll get it.
Excluding a few Precision Bustechs, it will not be possible for me to ride every bus in the fleet once for this year. Too many E5/6's are left unchecked.

Well covid restrictions are still a thing. Could simply be that people who use to utilize that particular route are still preferring their car options at the moment.

but just before the service commenced a horde of school students appeared with only 2 catching the service, it was a school day for the private school, but possibly not as normal as usual.

No more Bus Hopping necessary for the rest of the year thankfully, I'm now set with only 20 more buses to go after these today! To my own surprise, I only need another 10 (including todays) Renault's to achieve riding 250 of them this year. The goal was only suppose to be 200 and presumed too hard, yet here I am surpassing 2016's failed goal with flying colours!

Bit obscure, especially for future readers/researchers, assume by #997 and #998 you mean your rides for the year.
No I rode long-gone P3 buses. Just like how I rode bus #999 - 977 (72S) and Tram #1000 - 977 (70N) today.
I observed a light rail vehicle departing Gungahlin Place today from my Toyota Hiace maxi cab operated by Canberra Elite; I did not observe the number, as since I ceased travelling on public transport due to COVID-19 in March, I have not been noting these details, as that level of detailed observation is best saved for APS3 staff members doing the grunt work in Tuggeranong.

Perhaps not. But it was in the Christmas timetable and no changes shown in Transport Canberra service alerts. Non-TrainLink users may have still wished to use the stop. There is attitudinal difficulty implied here of 'does it really matter?'. Reliability is of prime user importance. How many other occasions have services blithely carried on when they should have diverted? (Transport Canberra would usually only be aware, when stranded users have taken the trouble to make a formal report.)

Posted after midnight, report relates to Mon 18th January.
First journey of the year via public transport today; this was also my first journey since December 15th prior to the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak in Sydney. This journey was a one-way trip home from Civic. Disturbingly, no other passengers on these vehicles other than myself were wearing a fitted face mask; I also spotted an APS4 & an APS3 from another area of my department traveling too close to each other on LRV007 and not socially distancing.
LRV007 (City to Dickson)
CDC bus (Dickson to Gungahlin Place)
Unknown 'Canberra Elite' maxi taxi; believed to be a Toyota Hiace van (Gungahlin Place to Ngunnawal).
Quote from: Toyota Camry on January 21, 2021, 09:25:04 PMI also spotted an APS4 & an APS3 from another area of my department traveling too close to each other on LRV007 and not socially distancing.
I really do not understand the relevance of posting people's APS positions like you do. Why don't you just say your saw two other people from your department not obeying social distancing recommendations??? What do their positions have to do with anything?
Sorry rant over - back on topic now...
No bus numbers for me these last few weeks. Recovering from a back injury has caused me to be laying flat on my back since mid-December :-(

Notes, Light Rail Replacement buses:
6661 noted as having QR code check-in at seats (CBR check-in not operational), what appeared to be securing belts for wheel chairs, and a placard at wheel chair spaces reading 'For safety wheel chairs and prams must face back of bus'. 6660 ditto except no QR code check-in.
Emulation of the wheel chair and pram requirement by TC could be very helpful in reducing the incidence of prams placed sideways, thus sticking out into the aisle to cause obstruction and trip risk.
Front door entry was the norm (rear door labelled 'no entry'). Some LR replacement buses had no rear door.
Neither bus rode on had PIDs or operating aural Next Stop.
Epic stop was same in both directions in EPIC service road, meaning N bound had to loop around, also often long waits for exit green phase.
Double deck was sighted in LR replacement service (upper deck back window labelled for emergency use, a long way off the ground).

Again with the continual mentioning of people's job classifications! I am now convinced you are doing it because you know it annoys people. I can't think of any other reason why a normal person would keep identifying people by their job classification.
Going back on topic - I enjoyed the view of a route 6 in a MAN today. It was rather pleasant too.

NEXT BUS (real time offered falsely R2 at 5.00 and 5.10, R6 at 5.06 and 5.15pm. Other intending patrons got similar reassurance from other sources on their devices. Some ended up getting a taxi, others hiked it to remote stops including an 81yr old with shopping bags. When Transport Canberra abandons its customers like this, it is no wonder that public transport is regarded as the option of last resort and usage (excluding Light Rail) barely increases.

This is a problem I've seen on other occasions. What happens is organisers are given approval to close the road at a certain time and so the notices at bus stops are prepared based on these approvals. However, the contractor who is setting up the barricades doesn't care about approvals and just installs the barriers early.
I would suggest in this instance that you direct your comments to Transport Canberra and let them know what happened.

That is happening. I also (from elsewhere) have been given to understand that TC does, in fact, keep a casual eye on what is posted in this forum, which is a good thing.
Besides barricade contractors jumping the gun, there is the possibility that the wanted R6 was very early. Whilst the 5.00pm R2 should act as a 'sweeper' perhaps it was caught up with barricade works or diverted because technically 5.00pm means the stop is closed. Whatever, 8 people (plus several more who arrived at the stop after 4.53pm) were inconvenienced. This means that potentially many more than that, around 80+ (marketing lore says news of one adverse experience spreads to many people), are likely to have been given a negative comment.

631 (R6E) - via Hospital Road, driver must've been half awake cuz he stopped at that stop on Goyder Street that hasn't been a TC stop for some time too. I don't understand why so many drivers still think it is one, it clearly doesn't have the blue/yellow sign attached or any other bus stop features anymore (excluding a Qcity timetable).
551 (R6W)
607 (R4S)
RE-631 probably running early and stopped there as Narrabundah College is not an appropriate place to stop and wait for time due to the positioning of the traffic island
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He was late after foolishly not realizing Hospital Road was still closed and the buzzer was pressed for Narrabundah College. Apart from a few drivers I know, most will never bother stopping in that area even if they're 7 minutes early (which happens every now and again) - they just sail on by regardless of whomever needs the bus during garbage-ass after-hours timetable frequencies.
set 5 car2 Sydney Metro Tallawong to Chatswood. Section using former heavy rail route Epping to Chatswood is noticeably smoother. Surprisingly for a near new installation, there were a patch or two of 'roaring rail' in the new section beyond Epping. An operating pattern appeared - normal from initial station, then in sections beyond intermediate stations, slow speed for first part of section to next station, then medium speed for a short distance, then normal speed. Inferred is that the computer is timing the train to arrive on schedule and leave when ready. if the station 'dwell' time is less than allowed then the train dawdles till the schedule is regained. Another noticeable feature was speedy reversals as the computer 'driver' doesn't have to change ends.
Set A9 (Waratah?) Car 6409 Chatswood - Town Hall (Penrith service) It seems detailed set information is becoming restricted due to misuse.
LR 44, module C2, route L2 Town Hall to Circular Quay (this is the catenary free, in ground power supply section), the leading coupled vehicle was no. 43.

NLR CAF 2156, middle module, Newcastle Interchange to Newcastle Beach.
The numbering is abbreviated to 56 on some parts of the LR and shown in full on others. I believe the full numbering continues the historic Sydney/Newcastle tram fleet numbering. The LR is wire free with self contained on board power supply replenished at selected stops by raising a pantograph to a short fixed energised bar. I couldn't see any obvious module identification. The LRs are 5 modules similar to Canberra.
NLR CAF 2151, end module, Newcastle Beach to Newcastle Interchange.
Hunter class 2 car diesel HMT 2751 (led by HM2701) Newcastle Interchange - Maitland (Singleton service).
HMT 2754 (trailed by HM2704) Maitland - Newcastle Interchange.
V14, DIT9169 Newcastle Interchange - Epping (16.24 Sydney service).
14, 6 Epping to Tallawong (arr Tallawong 19.06, elapsed time from Newcastle 2hr42min - pretty good).
(The return Metro same set and car purely coincidental - alighted from Newcastle, descended two escalators to find Metro just pulling in and walked aboard through nearest door.)
Hillsbus 9925 Rte M11 (Metro replacement) Tallawong - Epping, Sydney. A 59 min trek, replacing a 23min Metro.
(Why does a near new claimed 'world class Metro' need to disrupt the public for a weekend to perform 'planned maintenance'? Less than 'world class' construction and/or maintenance design, planning and implementation, is the inference. It is to be hoped they smarten up with the forthcoming Metro extensions.)
Metro set 3 car 2 Epping - Chatswood (overall time Tallawong - Chatswood 1hr 28min, Metro normally 36 min).

The Metro is much noisier and rougher riding than the modern heavy rail electric trains, reminded me of the old Sydney single deck trains in that respect. Surely 'world class' should be better than that.
What is exceptional is the regularity and consistency of the Metro service and experience.
Technical things noted were dual contact wire and catenary throughout, rails fastened to pads on a concrete track bed, and a lit narrow raised footway the length of the tunnels. With no driver cabin one can stand at the front and back windows for a 'driver eye' type view. Interestingly these windows are in emergency escape doors with a slide out ramp to track level. Another obvious and disconcerting aspect is the total lack of trackside signage and signalling, after-all, there is no on-board driver.
In comparison to Canberra, the Sydney buses we experienced gave no leeway to passengers not ready to stand up and alight, and to people running to the stop. If you greet the driver on boarding, expect a somewhat surprised response, or to be ignored.

Interesting no enquiries about location. What can be inferred from that? Those interested already know? Not a Transport Canberra vehicle, so who cares (in this regard Queanbeyan buses get almost zero posts)? Inertia to ask?
Location of this ferry is Berrys Canal waterway, a part of the Shoalhaven River sea outlets near Nowra, with service between Numbaa and Comerong Island. Fares are charged.

Well, it turns out there were roadworks. Rte 40 went via Moyes St as the right turn out of Starke St into Southern Cross Dr is unavailable due to roadworks at this junction. Have to say I hadn't noticed as just travelling A to B. Snorzac was on the ball.

At least these new check-in app stickers have one benefit for me, checking the bus number when I forget it again, after seeing it <15 times when I got on... This is especially beneficial on the PB/Bustechs as the cockpit number is hidden if seated anywhere but the front/wheelchair seats.

Good to see you are being socially responsible - it does annoy me though that others aren't as responsible as you.
We are in a lockdown and yet I have seen groups of people openly not following the rules. Very annoying.
Alright for some to be able to get Pfizer, let alone their second. I am in the current age range that can get them yet due to poor planning by the federal government there is little supply to the ACT and as such no appointments are available until October unless you are vulnerable or a health care worker. Oddly public transport workers running an essential service are not considered high risk and can't get early vaccine access.

It is a disgusting failure of Scott Morrison and his government that public transport workers have not been vaccinated; this is all the more reason why the mask mandate on public transport in the ACT should continue permanently, in line with the mandate being made permanent in NSW; and should not end later this year. Any person boarding your vehicle without a fitted face mask is a risk to your life and well being; for people like yourself working in public transport, it is very true that the mask mandate is the one thing keeping you alive and well at the moment.

It's not just you - I'm booked to get my first Pfizer on sep 28th (I made the booking about a month back). I told the booking person my role and they said I can't get it sooner. Spoke to my GP and he can't move me up either. Different story if I wanted AZ though but I don't want that.

Got a handful today. To keep things simple however, todays honourable mentions are:
927 and 384 (all MAN's ridden for 2021). The rest will be mentioned in the 'End of an Era' post.
Also, do any of the oldies here know why the engine sound of 931 is so much different from the others?
Probably because 931 is a bit of a cooked unit....
148 was cooked a couple times and its engine timbre wasn't changed, nah it's somehting else I'm sure.
After studying the school-interum network I've been able to plan a 9-Renault/day program. Today however had two Renaults pop up on routes I thought were random/unlikely chances of having Renaults. So today I instead caught 10 Renaults ;D .
Lots more buses helping me towards my ultimate goal with todays honourable mentions:
935, 955 and 513 (All Artics 2021).
Well I'm making sure while the active numbers are still above 100 to stay south of Lake Burley Griffin. So the plan I've come up with is just for Southside Renaults. Luckily however a minimum of 3 shifts that come down this way are Belconnen Renault shifts (for which only 2 work with my plan) which is a really great way for me to still ride on the Renaults I would normally miss out on. 935 and 955 were an absolute dream yesterday as I hadn't yet caught them this year. Hopefully the next time or couple times I go out I can knab 934 and 960 as those are the only ones in the current Renault fleet I've yet to ride this year.
Caught a new record of buses for the year, details of which I will not reveal until the end of the year.
Today's honourable mentions are:
930 (R5)
932 (57)
951 (R5)

I am getting much closer to my decade goal and I'm doing really well with my Renault riding. If all the routes I've located throughout the day were to have Renault's on them on a day I caught them, I could be looking at <16 different Renault shifts - sometimes the same bus is used, like today with 971.
Put toe back in after lockdown....

I think for the first time in my decade-long bus hunts I have ridden ALL RENAULT's in that year (excluding 911, as I missed that before it was decommisioned). I've now classified PR3's under the Renault title now that they're no longer in the fleet. My requirements to ride 'All Renault's' does not need buses 803, 967, 108, 114, 717, 943 nor 944, regardless of if I ride them or not - it use to, but I've come to terms that some of these would be impossible.
2 more Scanias, 1 more ∀rtic, 1 more Stag, 11 more Bustech/Precision and most of the others left to go. I'll once again be unable to ride every bus in the fleet, that goal will have to wait until the uncertainty of fleet calms down.

Where's my medal lol?
Imagine having such a good driver for your 999th of the year
If only I had drivers just as good during my bus hopping days, so many nasty ones out there still.

If you have an issue with a driver then fill out a feedback form on the Transport Canberra website and do not post snide remarks on this board; possibly you would also be grumpy too in a pandemic if you were needing to wear a mask for 8 hours per day whilst driving likely infected people around Canberra.

Nasty? Or exasperated? I suspect your 'bus hopping' is too well known.
And yes, I have come across the odd Captain Grumpy, but by and large they are a pretty good bunch despite having to put up with many ill prepared, lazy, running late, or idiot customers (to be clear, none of that is referring to you) on a daily basis. On a very few occasions over the years, I have used the feedback system (as recommended by Toyota Camry) to 'call out' both unacceptable behaviour, and exceptional noteworthy customer help.

Pretty sure breaking the law to avoid picking me up when I hail, running unacceptibly early (aka 15minutes early) and getting crushed by the doors I think are reasonable excuses for reporting drivers. Bad-mouthing me (for dumb reasons) and giving me the 'eye' I won't take too personally - not anymore at least.
This is the last year I plan to do all-day purposeful bus hops, but I do understand that many drivers are quite exasperated, espcially due to the current circumstances and the seemingly increased number of teens getting on claiming they forgot their my way cards. For this reason I made an extra effort to be speedy on/off and extra-polite (even if they're not to me) during the last couple months. The 14+ hour long bus hop days I also got to experience the pain that wearing masks has on ones mental health, so I feel the pain too.
I will of course report drivers, but I have no need for the online feedback complaint forms when I have a direct phone number to the person who takes the reports, or you know, the good old 13 17 10 if I lose that number.
Please stop telling me to use these channels Toyota Camry when I've known about these channels for over 20 years. That's at least twice (if not 3 times) now you've unnecessarily replied to a comment I've made to tell me that...
Quote from: Toyota Camry on December 29, 2021, 10:16:06 PMdo not post snide remarks on this board
Yes, thank you Mr. Forum Admin, I will be sure to not continue ignoring rule #6 of this board by purposely identifying which drivers are nasty and when.
This discussion is no longer suitable for this topic, so I'll finish here. (The general discussion page I'm sure was locked due to this reason) If you wish to continue it, private message me, don't go calling me out on a board - or better still, report me if you think I've done something wrong.

Well, you cut that fine! Presume Covid to blame. Anyway, congratulations.
I'll share it once I complete all my book work from last year, but it was an aboslute grind to bus hop the number of buses I needed in the last 4 months of both 2020 and 2021.
Most importantly however, to start of the year in the best possible way (excluding the absolutely dreadful hour-long scooter trip to get there), my first buses of the year today were:
929 (66E)
929 (59N)
380 (R5S)

Early AM Tuggy Renault's (with maybe an Iris R5 inbetween ;) ) and 2-3 Belco Renault's in the afternoon again, yippee!!!

Please tell me that's not what was decided for 108...

I am not impressed, clearly not a suitable alternative to the Freshwater class. Additional information/comment re double deckers
The B1 route to Mona Vale is operated by MAN ND323F units with Gemilang Eco Double Deck bodies.
Rte 610X to Castle Hill (and 607X to Bella Vista) are operated by a mixture of buses, but Bustech CDi bodied Cummins ISL double deckers operate quite a few of the services.
Both double decker types are 3 axle units but the Mona Vale buses have 2 axles at the rear, whereas in contrast the Castle Hill/Bella Vista buses have the 2 axles at the steering end. The mass carried at each end must vary accordingly - and have quite subtle mass distributions involved.
They appear to be particularly suited to limited stops/express services (but note use in ordinary multi stop services in Britain).
If you have the opportunity, try one out.

Well, I didn't notice. In fact I noted what seemed to be pause(s) to match the TT and a prompt arrival in the City after a smooth trip. What I did notice was that there were not many passengers despite it being what I thought would be a busy time, and certainly the road traffic was busy.
But, a later trip featured a cheerful mature lady driver with a surprisingly leaden foot. Skillful, so quite OK.
I can certainly confirm that the trip departed on time for the reasons you outline and certainly required enroute stops to not run early as the driver had the same thoughts regarding patronage
