642 (R4N)
631 (R6E) - via Hospital Road, driver must've been half awake cuz he stopped at that stop on Goyder Street that hasn't been a TC stop for some time too. I don't understand why so many drivers still think it is one, it clearly doesn't have the blue/yellow sign attached or any other bus stop features anymore (excluding a Qcity timetable).

RE-631 probably running early and stopped there as Narrabundah College is not an appropriate place to stop and wait for time due to the positioning of the traffic island

He was late after foolishly not realizing Hospital Road was still closed and the buzzer was pressed for Narrabundah College. Apart from a few drivers I know, most will never bother stopping in that area even if they're 7 minutes early (which happens every now and again) - they just sail on by regardless of whomever needs the bus during garbage-ass after-hours timetable frequencies.

set 5 car2 Sydney Metro Tallawong to Chatswood. Section using former heavy rail route Epping to Chatswood is noticeably smoother. Surprisingly for a near new installation, there were a patch or two of 'roaring rail' in the new section beyond Epping. An operating pattern appeared - normal from initial station, then in sections beyond intermediate stations, slow speed for first part of section to next station, then medium speed for a short distance, then normal speed. Inferred is that the computer is timing the train to arrive on schedule and leave when ready. if the station 'dwell' time is less than allowed then the train dawdles till the schedule is regained. Another noticeable feature was speedy reversals as the computer 'driver' doesn't have to change ends.
Set A9 (Waratah?) Car 6409 Chatswood - Town Hall (Penrith service) It seems detailed set information is becoming restricted due to misuse.
LR 44, module C2, route L2 Town Hall to Circular Quay (this is the catenary free, in ground power supply section), the leading coupled vehicle was no. 43.
Comparison between Canberra CAF vehicle module identification and Sydney's Alstom units. Each 5 modules. Canberra C1 S1 R S2 C2, Sydney equivalent M1 C1 NP C2 M2.
'Fred Hollows'  Ferry F9 service, Circular Quay to Watsons Bay via Rose Bay.
'May Gibbs' Ferry F9 reverse of above. Both ferries are Emerald Class, Sydney's newest class, built in Hobart by Incat.
LR 51, Module M1 (coupler end) lead by LR52, route L3 Circular Quay to Kingsford Juniors.
LR52, Module M1 (rear end) lead by LR51, route L3 Kingsford Juniors to Town Hall.
Car T6643, set unknown, Town Hall to Chatswood (Hornsby service)
Set 2, car 6 Metro, Chatswood to Tallawong.

Metro set 14, car 6, Tallawong - Epping.
Intercity Set V49 (led by set V45) car DIT 9135 Epping - Newcastle Interchange.
NLR CAF 2156, middle module, Newcastle Interchange to Newcastle Beach.
The numbering is abbreviated to 56 on some parts of the LR and shown in full on others. I believe the full numbering continues the historic Sydney/Newcastle tram fleet numbering. The LR is wire free with self contained on board power supply replenished at selected stops by raising a pantograph to a short fixed energised bar. I couldn't see any obvious module identification. The LRs are 5 modules similar to Canberra.
NLR CAF 2151, end module, Newcastle Beach to Newcastle Interchange.
Hunter class 2 car diesel HMT 2751 (led by HM2701) Newcastle Interchange - Maitland (Singleton service).
HMT 2754 (trailed by HM2704) Maitland - Newcastle Interchange.
V14, DIT9169 Newcastle Interchange - Epping (16.24 Sydney service).
14, 6 Epping to Tallawong (arr Tallawong 19.06, elapsed time from Newcastle 2hr42min - pretty good).
(The return Metro same set and car purely coincidental - alighted from Newcastle, descended two escalators to find Metro just pulling in and walked aboard through nearest door.)

triumph

Hillsbus 9925 Rte M11 (Metro replacement) Tallawong - Epping, Sydney. A 59 min trek, replacing a 23min Metro.
(Why does a near new claimed 'world class Metro' need to disrupt the public for a weekend to perform 'planned maintenance'? Less than 'world class' construction and/or maintenance design, planning and implementation, is the inference. It is to be hoped they smarten up with the forthcoming Metro extensions.)
Metro set 3 car 2 Epping - Chatswood (overall time Tallawong - Chatswood 1hr 28min, Metro normally 36 min).
Set  H36, car ONL5986 Chatswood - Wynyard.
LR 21 Module M1 Rte L2  Wynyard - Circular Quay. (LR 22 in trail)
LR 40 Module M2 Rte L2  Circular Quay - Randwick. (LR 39 in trail)
LR 39 Module M1 Rte L2  Randwick - Wynyard (LR 40 in trail)
Set A75 car N5575 Wynyard - Chatswood. (Berowra service)

Set T 37 (lead) car D6184 Town Hall - Epping via Strathfield. ('Tangara' type, Hornsby service.
Metro set 6 car 1 Epping - Tallawong

The Metro is much noisier and rougher riding than the modern heavy rail electric trains, reminded me of the old Sydney single deck trains in that respect. Surely 'world class' should be better than that.
What is exceptional is the regularity and consistency of the Metro service and experience.
Technical things noted were dual contact wire and catenary throughout, rails fastened to pads on a concrete track bed, and a lit narrow raised footway the length of the tunnels. With no driver cabin one can stand at the front and back windows for a 'driver eye' type view. Interestingly these windows are in emergency escape doors with a slide out ramp to track level. Another obvious and disconcerting aspect is the total lack of trackside signage and signalling, after-all, there is no on-board driver.

In comparison to Canberra, the Sydney buses we experienced gave no leeway to passengers not ready to stand up and alight, and to people running to the stop. If you greet the driver on boarding, expect a somewhat surprised response, or to be ignored.

Interesting no enquiries about location. What can be inferred from that? Those interested already know? Not a Transport Canberra vehicle, so who cares (in this regard Queanbeyan buses get almost zero posts)? Inertia to ask?
Location of this ferry is Berrys Canal waterway, a part of the Shoalhaven River sea outlets near Nowra, with service between Numbaa and Comerong Island. Fares are charged.

Thank you for your interest.
What roadworks? Must have been between Belconnen and Kippax. I boarded at Kippax and travelled further North.
Were you thinking of rte 41 which until recently has been affected by roadworks at Copland Dr/Verbrugghen St (roundabout construction) or Companion Cresc (services crossing)?

Well, it turns out there were roadworks. Rte 40 went via Moyes St as the right turn out of Starke St into Southern Cross Dr is unavailable due to roadworks at this junction. Have to say I hadn't noticed as just travelling A to B. Snorzac was on the ball.

At least these new check-in app stickers have one benefit for me, checking the bus number when I forget it again, after seeing it <15 times when I got on... This is especially beneficial on the PB/Bustechs as the cockpit number is hidden if seated anywhere but the front/wheelchair seats.
