Looks like sense may prevail on this road. Being a freeway style road, the drive drags on and on at 80km/h.

A review of the Gungahlin Drive Extension may lead to the speed limit being lifted to 90km/h or even 100km/h, according Roads ACT director Tony Gill.

The road is now signposted at 80km/h even though its design standard is 100km/h.

Mr Gill said depending on the outcome of a raft of tests including noise monitoring from homes at 16 locations along the 9km road, the speed limit could be revised upwards.

Traffic volumes and traffic speeds will also be monitored while a standard safety audit will also be completed on the new road.

''There are options. The speed limit could be increased to 90km/h, it could be lifted to 100km/h,'' he said.
