Effective from last Monday (6 August), DBL have raised the fares on Deane's and Transborder buses. The off peak and Canberra-only fares remain unchanged. But the Deane's Discount Card no longer offers any discount over the cash fare other than the return-ticket discount (which is still available as a cash fare).

Some fare examples (Adult, one-way):

Canberra - Queanbeyan $8.00
Kingston - Queanbeyan $6.40
DFO - Queanbeyan $4.70
Canberra - Murrumbateman $10.40
Canberra - Yass $13.50

Confused? Full fare information available from Deane's website.

The below letter has been sent to Deanes Discount Card holders:

Quote from: Deanes Transit Group
To all Deanes Discount Card and Programme Card holders

Unfortunately due to price pressure the Deanes Transit Group have had to
review the level of fare discounting we offer to our clients,
subsequently the discounts offered on the Deanes Discount Card and
Programme Card was withdrawn affective from the 6th August 2012.
A ten percent (10%) discount is still being offered to all passengers
paying for a return journey. This discount does not apply to a one way
fare.
The original benefit of using a card in that it removes the need to
carry cash all the time still remains and the company is looking at
providing other benefits in the near future to holders of both cards.
We apologise for having to withdraw the discount, but hope that you will
appreciate that a viable service is of the utmost importance to the
community and that we are still offering a discount on the scheduled
fare.

Yours faithfully
