Bus 400

950 is missing its rack.

969 is missing a 9 from its front fleet numbers.

Bus 400

This afternoon I spotted 340 being driven by workshop with its bike rack missing & front number plate on.

Bus 400

I am not sure what is being done, but I also saw 33* with the bike rack missing & the front number plate attached to the bit of metal that sticks out in front of the bumper.

Snorzac

950 has a rack, we may as well just make this 'General Bike Rack Discussion'.

This months addition states that ACTION have purchased all of BT's bikeracks which would be what is going onto buses such as 390

I wonder what ajw373 would make of that sentence? What I believe you meant to say was:

"This month's edition of Transit Australia states that ACTION have purchased all of BT's bike racks..."

The bike rack permits have been renewed - the bus rego ranges are as follows:
127 to 131, 300 to 463, 882 to 913, 915 to 969, 970 to 979, 980 to 982.

What's interesting is that the expected fleet numbers for the 14.5 buses (500 to 525) are not included.

Buzz Killington

oh great, more of those unsightly racks!

Bus 400

Wouldn't a bike rack make it harder for the 14.5's to turn some corners?

Buzz Killington

Possibly. There's not much difference when its folded up but when in use they could be an issue i suppose

How so? Feel free to use diagrams.

While I'm here, I should mention that several buses have recently been seen without their racks: 129, 931 and 949.

Bus 400

Well the Government love sticking keep left signs on turns, so with the bike rack down the cornering would be a bit tight.

Barry Drive

I've realised why 500-525 were not included on the new permit - it is specifically for the buses up to 12.5m. If the 14.5m buses are to have bike racks, they will need a different permit since their overall length will be longer.

That's not to say that they will have bike racks, even though it seems to be Government policy that all new buses should have them. Time will tell.

Bus 400

Did 993 ever have a bike rack? In the front it looks like it has the provision for one, but has no bike rack stickers. Also it isn't on the new permit list.

King Long reports via Twitter that 920 has a bike rack. That's the first Tuggeranong Renault to have one.

Miracle.

Damn... it'll look shit on the older fleet.

I think they look really good on the older buses, makes em look newer

Buzz Killington

actbusspotter tweets that 922 now has a rack fitted.

I know it was bound to happen, but now I can't use the bike rack to notice the difference between Tuggeranong & Belconnen MkII's.

Don't worry you still will be able to notice the difference between the tuggeranong and belconnen MKII's, because the ones that are a bucket of shit will come from tuggers

Snorzac

I beg to differ, the better .2s tend to come from Tuggeranong, you get a few good ones at Belco though such as 948, 959, 960 and 969, The depots are pretty much even

Bus 400

Bus 916 is also sporting a bike rack. It is the bright yellow ones. This is another Tuggeranong bike racked bus.

Keep posting as you see them guys, so we can add them to the wiki.

Seems they are really going to ramp the whole bike rack thing up. 972 and 982 from Tuggeranong and 960 from Belco have them now.

Add 936 and 942

Seems musical bike racks has started again, 962 is missing it's rack and I think 931 finally has it's rack back

smitho

937 has just had one fitted and was re-issued to traffic yesterday (complete with internal rack mirror).

330 has a new style of rack,  looks good

Ed

330 has had a black bike rack for a while now, the original one (yellow bike rack) was destroyed in an accident.

So much for bike racking all buses 915-981! It'll be really strange seeing a MkI with a bike rack, I'm slightly anticipating it!

What makes you think MkI's will be getting bike racks?

A quick wander through the depot revealed 907, 909  and 912 now have racks. I wouldn't be surprised if 904 also does by now. But 129, 949 and 931 still don't have them (although I'm not sure whether 949 is at Belconnen anymore).

Snorzac

904 has one, saw it while I was 'cooling off' at work

Aaaah, I must have missed that post of yours, my mistake.

I'm simply assuming the MkI's will get bike racks, as 'all ACTION vehicles' will eventually be fitted with a bike rack. I suppose it depends on how rapidly this rollout takes place.

King of Buses

.2's Look ugly with the grey veloporter bike racks but they look great on Irisbuses and MAN 18:310 CNG's.

Snorzac

The following buses were sighted with bikeracks today:
906
912
957
958
