No. Actually it was a straight PM shift finishing just after midnight.  Nice for a change.

I cannot tell a lie... it was me, little old me. I guess I look older and fatter in person than the real Kramden in my avatar, LOL!

Merv319 eh?  You must be an Iris fan with a name like that.  I'm yet to drive 319.  Is she any good?

Just while we're on the Iris subject - and apologies for being off topic - but I'm wondering is it a proven statistic that they're prone to breakdowns more than most other bus types in the fleet. If so, why is that?

Caught it earlier in the week, it certainly bucks the Iris trend of being heaps of shit.

Just wait for summer, you'll see...
OK thanks, so I take it they're poorly engineered for ACTION requirements, i.e. can't hack the pace in the heat.  Thanks for the tip.  Hmmm, best avoid them this summer if poss.

Yep, 319 is the coolest bus with the great name logo at the rear of the bus-and it's smooth as well.

Was the morning half of the shift requiring a .3 or iris?

Kramden

AM part was a .3.  I was assigned 993 on Monday but it wouldn't start and I was close to being due out so they fixed me up with an Iris.  Fortunatley a reasonably good one.

So I've finally spotted you Mr Kramden. I jumped off the 903 at Fraser West Terminus.

I will praise you for that very nice thing you did for that young lady at Dunlop. Not many drivers would go out of there way to do that. Just a pity you took that direction out of Fraser West (without saying too much).

COMMENT: 112 was the pick of the 3s, but I still can't say I enjoy operating them.  They seem cumbersome...awkward.  Apart from all the annoying rattles, the door switches are notoriously dysfunctional. By contrast, all of the old Mk Is mentioned above were quite good; very responsive.  Echoing the words of many long-serving drivers I've met, they're a damned good bus...especially considering their age.

I took out 817 the other day as it was the only Mark 1 left when I turned up to do my afternoon runs; had been under the impression that it was a bit of a snail, but in fact it went pretty well - it was a pleasure to operate for the afternoon.

Mechanical side seemed faultless, Air conditioning was good, AM-FM worked well, internal presentation was reasonable, externals were reasonable too. Would much rather see Mark 3s being sold off than these venerable old girls.
