I had 854 yesterday and noticed it has a manual desto like Mk 1s do, but it has rectangular tail lights a-la Mk II.  Was this a retro-fit perhaps as a result of a prang long ago?

No. It was a trial. There were several Renault PR100.2s which had non-standard body parts. From memory they are:

808 - trial Alcatel flip-dot desto
820 - trial seats (not Saydair)
854 - trial tail lights
940 - trial Saydair seats
? ? ? - trial Belcawat roof hatch

946 is the one with the funny roof hatches

946 also has the nice (more recently) retro fitted LED desto.  Wish that more of them did.  Those single dot jobs on the Mk IIs are shite.  So difficult to read at distance compounded by the fact that a number of them have missing/faulty dots.

the seats in 820 were Ansair seats from memory. I believe they are still in that vehicle which is at Interline I think, they just put new fabric on the seats.

That makes sense. I saw the same seats in an Ansair-bodied MAN in Adelaide.

And yes, those seats were still in ex-820 when we visited it at Interline last year.

IIRC, they were black plastic with a dark green fabric
