Bus 400

The Bombala branches away from Canberra just past Queanbeyan Railway Station & skirts alongside the NSW/ACT border for a while passing by the Tuggeranong siding, Royalla, Michelago, Bredbo, etc before terminating at Bombala. This line was closed back in 1986 with the Chakola Bridge used as an excuse. Back when the closure was announced, 2 heated letters were published in the Railway Digest, one (wriiten by a R Struthers) calling the Chakola Bridge an excuse, etc & some engineer person confirming the Government's story. I have the letters somewhere & can publish them if anyone wishes, but I have to be bias as R Struthers is a relative of mine. Since said bridge has not been looked after, it has now fallen beyond disrepair.

Today I skipped half the line & chugged down to a few of the stations along this line & they can be found in the next few posts.

Here we have a few photos from Michelago Station:

This view is the line to the north.

Michelago Station

A look inside through a gap in the door.

Name plate.

On old baggage trolley.

A few things that have seen better days.

Inside the signal box.

A few old carriages, I swear just about every abandoned station has one or two of these.
