If Transport Canberra purchase another Hino Poncho. Could it be used as the former tourist route 81?

Heartily agree that TC Network should take in major destinations for tourists. It is a shame, and likely discriminatory too, that those reliant on public transport are excluded, to name a few places, from the Botanic Gardens, the Arboretum, and the Zoo. All places previously served.

Yes there other costly ways which may be even more convenient but only if the budget is not restricted. Cost is a particular impact on pensioners and others of limited cash means. TC, furthermore, seems to think it is ok just to hike it to the Gardens, but for many older /physically limited or family with young children folk this is simply impractical.

As to whether a Poncho is suitable is debatable. Getting every one belted up at each stop is problematic, and peak service needs probably exceeds Poncho capacity (I have experienced a completely full service on a former tourist route. Though more often found it lightly patronised. A discouragement being the infrequent intervals and one way circular routes - designed to fail.)

So while chrystal ball gazing. What about 3 or four times per day service each way via Tharwa, Tidbinbilla attractions, and Cotter... between Lanyon and , say, Woden ???

Indeed it's a good idea to cover these areas, however, at first we need to make sure at least we have enough drivers to cover the current timetable.
I highly doubt that we can have tourist routes at weekends if weekend services continue to be voluntary.
