Fleet / Renaults a go go: the final fr...

With the (presumed) imminent arrival of 26 new Scanias and the DDA deadline of 31 December fast approaching, this topic is to record the final movements of the remaining Renault PR100.2s

To recap, there are 39 in total: 927-963 at Belconnen (23), 969-982 at Tuggeranong (14) and 943-944 as trainers.

But will 927 be withdrawn first, or will they be removed based on mechanical grounds? And will they keep some as trainers, despite the remainder being withdrawn?

Fleet / Re: Bus procurement after 2020
Last post by Barry Drive - October 22, 2022, 01:19:05 PM
Quote from: Barry Drive on October 03, 2022, 11:33:30 AMAnd we're still waiting for details of the leased buses contract;
And very quietly, a contract for 26 leased Scania K320UB diesel buses was published sometime this week.

The contract doesn't reveal much that wasn't already known: the buses are to be Bustech VST bodies.

The delivery schedule is out of date so I can't report on when the buses will be fully delivered. The original schedule was delivery over 4 months, so even if the first bus is delivered next week it might still be February before all 26 are delivered.

What wasn't known before is the length of the lease. The tender (IIRC) asked for 5 and 7 year pricing; however the lease period for these buses will be 10 years from the date of the final bus delivery, with two options to extend by 12 months. This would mean these buses would be withdrawn before the CB80 Scanias (assuming a 20 year life).

The contract assumes that each bus will travel no further than 100,000 km per year - with an extra payment required if that occurs. The "rent" payment is based on time, not distance, so it would make economic sense to utilise these buses as much as possible - all day and every weekend.

No fleet number details were included, and no contracts for the electric buses have been released.
