Building a better bus service - feedback on the proposed bus plan
Public consultation for Network 08 has now closed. ACTION would like to thank you for your feedback on the proposed new bus plan for Canberra. Your feedback is currently being considered and will contribute to the new network. Network 08 is proposed for introduction on Monday 28 April 2008.

Good-o, yeah, it was always going to be then.

But I wonder, when will we see it? Surely we shall see it a few weeks beforehand it's release.

There was a petition from patrons of the 769, and I wasnt informed????

Hmmph.

Irisbus Rider

A few pieces of paper have been seen around town on services that will be reduced, but I doubt much will change...

I've also been told May as a possible, but I will ask the union guys tomorrow and get back to you.
Union delegates are voted on tomorrow 13/3/08 and if the OH&S guys get elected then they will have to throw that hat in the ring and then I will run for OH&S. I can see myself looking out for others. :D

Busnerd

Yeah, not good news for the new network, but this was to be expected, when was the last time a new network was delivered in time..

And thanks for your first post Robert.

I had a look at a photo of 898 and I did name it at some stage, although I can't remember what it is, so check your back window tomorrow and see if its still readable or if its faded off  ;D

Buzz Killington

yeah welcome rob. i remember seenig your photo in one of the "ACTION'S Birthday!" features a few years ago, lol.

Pity the network is taking so long, but as long as its done right..

Irisbus Rider

Yeah, another driver reported that "If this network goes wrong, heads will roll". I guess there is an election this year.

And welcome Robert!

Bus 400

So if Network '08 flops, ACTION drivers will copy the RFS & flood the Legislative Assembly courtyard & carpark with buses?

Busnerd

No, they usually go with the ol' chain up the depot gates..

and it wont flop, it is ten times better than 06' it will just start late due to whingers like those in theodore complaining about 30 mins of off peak idling submitting their crap so now they have to go over it again.

Was it in a German accent like Major Wolfgang Hochstetter off Hogans Hereos with 'All heads will roll!'. It is like the voice of the gestapo officer in the third or fourth thing http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=ztgYhVFSDSQ&feature=related

Will be good when it comes out, will still be annoying if my service is still of peak at hourly. But hell, I only need to look after myself as that is my route. Commuter first, enthusiast second. The intertown coming into Erindale (The 111, 116 and 117) I hope they keep, or an adaption there of. As then atleast I can get some exercise and walk home. Basically it is abit of tweaking from the endless amounts of complaints they would have recieved and grouping them into the most serious. Can't wait for it though, bring on the single route numbers.

Bus 400

So will it still begin after ANZAC Day or not (28/04/08)?

Sir Pompously

Read above, May is a possible. No one really knows an affirmitive date of when the network will start. You will know when everyone else knows.

Barry Drive

Rob (or any other driver) : no sign of a shift spill yet? Don't they need to give 6 weeks notice when a shift spill occurs. Which would mean unless a shift spill is notified on Monday (17 March), the new network cannot commence on 28 April.

Bus 400

According to the ACTION website, Network '08 will come into effect of Monday 3rd June 2009.

Wait they did say 2nd June 2008, with timetables released 2 weeks prior (their words).

Irisbus Rider

I thought they said 28th April originally.....

Busnerd

Both Wrong

Timetables out May 19th
Network Starts June 2

Either a shift spill or at least the shifts will be available for drivers next week so they can have a look at them all. Apparently they will be out monday, so im guessing a spill shall occur shortly.

Irisbus Rider

Wasn't it set for April 28th last year when the consultation started?

Thats a fair while.....
