Here are a few photos of Dickson Interchange from last week.

View from Northbourne Ave end.

View from Cape St end.

395 operates a 39 to the City.

587 operates a 7 to Belconnen.

599 operates a 1 to Woden with 587 behind on a 7 to Belconnen.

967 operates a 1 to Cowper St.

967 waits to exit.

558 mid u-turn at the Northbourne/Murdoch intersection.

Wait, I'm confused, is this a bus interchange or station?
Cause looking through all the advertising, bus books and the layout of the stops, the title is deceptive.

On a side note, looking at the photos it seems the same person is responsible again for that ridiculous distance between the two shelters just like at the Wanniassa P&R stop... (insert facepalm gif here) and I won't go on about my opinion of the lightrail track of where the northbound Northbourne side should be able to turn in to make the routes less time consuming/confusing...

Given it is advertised as "Dickson Interchange," and supposedly allows easy connections between rapid and local services, I'd say it is an interchange. Besides, why call it a "Bus Station" when it is intended to be a transfer point between different public transport modes in future? I wouldn't be surprised if Gungahlin Bus Station and the City Bus Station become "Gungahlin Interchange" and "City Interchange" when Light Rail starts operations (once again, in the case of the latter). Although, if they were to do this I'd have expected them to have named those Light Rail stops accordingly when they released the stop names a while back.

By putting the shelter at the very front of each platform means buses can stop at the front of the platform allowing more than one or two buses to fit on each platform at a time. Might as well use all the space that's there rather than chuck a shelter right against Northbourne Ave on both sides.

I have the same thoughts for Erindale, Gungahlin, Barton and the three Belconnen stations myself.

A thought I thought to myself earlier this morning on the way to CIT;
Quote from: SLBWe've gone from "Bus Interchange" to "Bus Station" back to "Interchange without Bus(es)" within a 10ish year period - can't they make their bloody minds up already?

True, but unless the 200's are stopping/passing inside there too, I don't think there's going to be much pilling up with 4 routes, even during peak - esp as the northbounds have to go to the intersection first just to come back around. Also imo I think that the shelters should've be placed closer to the shops as apposed to closer to Northbourne.

Once LR starts, I expect the 30/31/39 to terminate at Dickson (or be through routed with the 1/2/7/8) - same maybe with the 56/57/58 if they don't terminate further north along the LR corridor (or become loops).  Frequency might also be improved, thus meaning in peak (at least) the likelihood of more buses using Dickson Interchange at one time would be greater.

Gungahlin is the only one I can agree with (fully) given the definition I stated in my previous post (along with the City):

Calling every other major connections hub a "Bus Station" at this stage makes sense given buses are the only PT mode that services them. Once LR stage two is built, Woden Bus Station can become "Woden Interchange" once again and hopefully Barton Bus Station can stay as is because sending LR down National Cct is not a good idea for the Woden to City direct corridor (unless Blue Rapid buses continue - which they wouldn't). Having a "Barton Interchange" on State Circle, however, would be fine if bus services were moved over to there to connect with LR on Capital or State Circle. #rantoverfornow

Well, I was actually there in person on Friday and I take back the comment I made about the distance. Being there in person is quite different to a photo and the distance is actually not that bad - the Wanniassa P&R stop though......

I still have the problem with the turn-in thing with buses coming from the city. The whole lightrail thing is almost a massive $1 billion project, surely a turn-in/out for the interchange right here could've have cost them too much more, I mean come on...

Bus 400

We should find out next week what the plan is, but when the light rail starts next year. Buses won't run in service up Northbourne Avenue south of Morphett Street. The current operation is just temporary, just like the chopping & changing platforms at Gungahlin.

Through an active construction site?
