Awwwww, that's nice! Ha ha, the cat is camera shy in the first pic :P
And that second pic is nice, crisp and clear, top job! I look forward to seeing more shots from this new camera of yours.
The cat on the chair is Cleo; the cat on the ground is Max.
The photo of Cleo was taken using the Canon 'Easy' mode with face detection: the camera sets the focus and exposure by itself - in that mode the user cannot change anything except the zoom and the flash.
