The MANs are so amazingly quiet, at least compared to the Scania K320UBs which are always super loud. Not too bad on the suburban routes but on longer trips such as the R4, it really gets to you after a while. The MANs never have any rattles (unlike the L94s), comfortable seats, from what I know as a passenger pretty reliable. If I had to between a Scania K320UB (not 14.5) and an MAN, I would pick the MAN, especially on a route like the R4.

Yeah the MANs are much better with the rattles, though unfortunately some of the early diesel ones have an annoying panel rattle above the rear door - I was on 392 recently and it had the loud rattle, though later that day I was on 452 and there was no such rattle, implying that MAN fixed the rattle problem with later deliveries.

Do drivers get any choice on a day-to-day basis as to whether they drive MANs, Volgrens etc? There are some shifts I see that always seem to get MANs, while there's others that only seem to get CB80s, so I've often wondered.

The saddest retirement for me will be 963    .

And now 960 and 963 are gone    . I was lucky enough to see it twice on Thursday (25th) just 1 day before it was withdrawn. Now Belconnen has no Renaults left, my chances of riding one again are pretty slim. Only 3 Renaults at Tuggeranong 979, 980 and 982, remain in service, and who knows for how much longer.

With how many different buses there are in the current fleet, do you have to lug around a huge chain of keys around your waist/in your bag and do you ever forget which key inserts into which bus?

979 and 982 were still active today, Rtes 64 and 65 as usual and associated other routes. Also noted 963 active today. 980 and 960??.

960 reported today by Sylvan. This now leaves only 980 unaccounted for.

I said to the driver and is the absolute last time I'll probably ever see 960 again as he claims after today it's getting scrapped.

If what this driver said is true, I guess that's the end of 960. To me it seems a bit odd that 960 is going before the last 3 Tuggeranong Renaults, considering 816-818 are at Tuggeranong while 960 is/was at Belconnen, but alas. The saddest retirement for me will be 963    . It's going to be bittersweet without the Renaults around, they have been in the fleet for as long as I can remember and were one of the first buses I rode, and were the first bus I ever rode in Canberra. It is truly the end of an era for buses in Canberra

Wasn't really planning on riding the Renault's today but I thought after I dropped off something in Belconnen, if I saw one, I'd get one. Saw 963 on my way in but didn't see the route rip, and was very lucky to have 960 arrive as I was heading out. "The 47 is on the way to Tuggeranong" I said to the driver and is the absolute last time I'll probably ever see 960 again as he claims after today it's getting scrapped. According to the driver that 47 will be its official last route (and I got to ride it ) rip. 600k on the mileage counter, I'd assume that's probably more like 3.6mil right?

I saw 979 on the usual 72 this morning on anytrip, other than that I saw 963 on my way to belconnen a couple hours ago.
