Media Release from Minister Steel

Finally and interesting choice. Now the challenge is to get it rolled out in a timely manner.

Here is an additional article on it

QuoteSeven years after it was first flagged, a supplier has been secured to deliver Canberra's new smart public transport ticketing system.

Now Belconnen Interchange.

42 came about from efforts to reduce bus numbers using Fraser West Terminus. It is not the whole story. Check out route 40. Between them they provide clock and anticlockwise services meaning the practical routed length for most users is a maximum of just over 30min. Not so unusual after all.
(For a truly long time try an R2 incorporating a school diversion or a peak hour R2 between Fyshwick/Fraser West. Regrettably(?) the single Renault trip disappeared with the TT change.)

969 (71N) - starting to sound a lot like 931
333 (R5N)
487 (R2N)
310 (43N) - really glad I made a timetable for this one, super helpful.
310 (43S)
962 (42L) - Holy crap that route is disgustingly long and confusing. 62 minutes from Belconnen Community to Belconnen Community, what an oof that is. Had to kill an hour and well... at least it was a Renault and I sat up the back so all the juveniles that got on couldn't for once, ha ha! More fresh air for me with the windows open and less vandalism on the old girls' seat backings.
628 (R3S)
581 (R6S)
Both Renault's were ones I hadn't yet ridden this year so yay - 1 from each depot too!

Quote from: triumph on February 26, 2023, 10:46:21 PMToday's Sunday Canberra Times under All Homes page 3 has an article headed 'This Rental near Tharwa comes with its own bus'. A Mack/Renault is illustrated. Appears complete but no plate and no fleet number discernable. The property is at Clear Range.

940.

It's very hard to tell, but looking at the image the fleet outline looks like 800.

Fleet / Re: 12 Yutongs
Last post by triumph - February 26, 2023, 11:11:38 PM
Today's Sunday Canberra Times at page 12 has an article by Peter Brewer headed 'Brakes on for electric bus supply'.

The 5th para reads 'It started with a trickle feed of eight Chinese-made Yutong electric buses and four Australian-made Custom Denning Element models, but the slow rollout of zero-emission buses into the ACTION fleet is determined as much by supplier capacity as the installation speed of the depot rechargers to keep them mobile'.

This is a bit peculiar concerning the numbers of buses of the two types. 8 Yutongs are quoted, not 12, and the Yutong fleet numbers already range between 800 and 811. My feeling is that the reporter has used non-current data. And the Custom Denning Elements? * Yutongs have become 12 which suggests that the Custom vehicles are a long way off or not coming at all.

There is much more on electric buses in general in this whole page article.
