Another project by Transport for Canberra is to upgrade major bus stops in Canberra. Under this plan a few projects are under way, these include Erindale, Barton, Fyshwick & City West. All major bus stops can be seen in this (http://www.transport.act.gov.au/studies_projects/MajorBusStopsMapFigure52.pdf) map.

Some people will be happy at what is classed as main bus stops, while others will be saddened to hear others won't.

The tender has just gone out for this project, the full project is expected to be completed by December 2012.

The tender can be found at http://www.procurement.act.gov.au/tenders_advertised/tender_download/open_tenders/17882.110

Work has started on the Woden bound stop on Yamba Drive outside The Canberra Hospital.

The northbound Canberra Hospital stop has opened. Work has started on the southbound stop.

The southbound stop at The Canberra Hospital (Yamba Drive) is now open.

The contract for the Commonwealth Ave (Albert Hall) and Kings Ave major bus stop upgrades have both been awarded to Simenov Civil Engineering. Expect work to commence at both these sites shortly.

Construction of the Barton "Bus Station" (which is basically two large bus stops) is also supposed to commence shortly, but I can't find a contract for it.

Work has started on the Kings Avenue Major Stops.

As previously mentioned somewhere, work has started on the Commonwealth Avenue bus stops. With the shelters having been removed in the last day or two.
According to ACTION's Service page, work may of also started on the Barton Bus Station stops.

Do you mean the Treasury side (southbound) shelters "having been removed in the last day or two"?.

The northbound bunker shelter outside the Albert Hall was still in situ this morning, with formwork for the new concrete landing pads arranged neatly around it, suggesting it may not be removed. The NCA will be determining shelter issues in this precinct, and may well have a preference for bunkers over AdShels.

I must of missed it, or it's a conspiracy & was replaced last night.

In view of the heritage precinct in which the Albery Hall stop is located, it'd be very appropriate if a rendition heritage shelter was erected on this site rather than a standard AdShel...say a replica of the former southbound Yarralumla timber shelter which was destroyed by fire several years ago.

Over recent years, Adelaide has installed numerous heritage style shelters inspired by the former tram shelters of the Metroplitan Tramways Trust (MTT).

Well today there is no bunker shelter & nothing looks disturbed from Friday. There is a portaloo sitting here & while some treat the shelters as toilets, not many have treated toilets as bus shelters.

Yes, that's what it looked like when I went past it earlier today.

The shelters on Commonwealth & Kings Avenue have been installed. Strangely enough they are CAM major stop shelters.

appeaqrs that bus stop upgrades are about to start in Stuart St, Griffith...hopefully the heritage shelters will receive some TLC.

Bus 400

Work has started on the Barton Bus Station stops, the old wooden shelter has now gone.

Bus 400

The major stop AdShel has been installed at the relocated southbound College Street stop. I'm guessing the plan is for this one stop to replace 2 of the 3 stops on College Street.

Upgrade work at Russell Drive has so far "saved" the NCDC-era timber shelter on the northbound side, while work on the southbound side has been undertaken around the site of the existing bunker. ....hopefully both shelters will be retained as Russell Hill is such an exposed site.

Shelters are well used by Serco Defence commuters quite apart from ACTION/Q-City patrons.

NCDC-era shelter @ Russell Hill northbound has now been demolished while southbound bunker shelter remains, apparently awaiting new concrete surrounds.

Somewhere else presumably as the footings where the bunker used to be are clearly for the newer glass shelters.

Russell Office's have also received CAM Major Stop shelters. While the City bound Barton Station (City bound) has been installed. Seems like a hybrid with AdShel major stop, with CAM seating & a header around the top with the words "Barton Station." This is what Gungahlin (City bound) stop will receive, with the old Hibberson Street shelter being removed today.

The installation of the frame for the major AdShel at GMP Citybound stop commenced today.
