You're lucky that you've been able to ride the new Yutongs, I haven't been able to ride one yet. I did see 830 yesterday though, it was very new and shiny.

011 (R1 City > Phillip Avenue) QR used successfully but still flaky. Tap on needed moving phone about. Tap off required trying another validator.
003 (R1 Phillip Avenue > City) QR used successfully. Tap on at third validator worked well Tap off again required phone being moved around. 003 is showing some wear and tear - noisy motor/transmission.

QR, so far in my experience, is not yet a simple hold at the reader momentarily. It should read as easily and promptly as a supermarket checkout reads a barcode. Otherwise it will never be a convenient option. Personally, it is clear to me that, when I have finished experimenting, the MyWay+ card will be my usual method.

......

Well, I had thought all was eventually good, but looking a moment ago in my account, the tap off was simply recorded as 'invalid stop ID'.  Peculiar, as the hardware is permanently fixed in place at the Light Rail Station. QR is even flakier than I had thought

822 (R2) Offered QR to validator at rear and got 'Out of Service'. PID showed 'End of trip' and a time out by just over an hour earlier (was it the time the trip ended?).
468 (R2) Didn't even get to validator before the driver advised it was out of service. I responded with remark none seemed to work. Driver said this was an R2 and it was not recognising stops. Implying that there might currently be a particular issue with R2 and MyWay+. PID was blank except for (correct) time.

In view of my experiences above, it would be interesting to know if the three R2s you quote were also MyWay+ fails? And, were you intending to use QR?
Between us (discounting 309) a strike rate of one out of eight indicates there is still a lot with MyWay+ for NEC to still fix up.

Busnerd

I am sure it has been posted here somewhere the the R2 and 56 are not working at all for MyWay+ regardless of which bus is operating the route so I expected those to not work.

Although the only actual fail was the R6 Bustech where I tried to tap my card and the validator did not acknowledge the card then changed to out of service and driver advised me it wasn't working and to take a seat.

I haven't used the QR code as it appears to be the least functional option, I often see people moving their phones to multiple angles before they're able to get it to scan whereas the MyWay+ card when the system has actually worked works quickly and is the easiest option, that said the online portal isn't very good considering the app makes you go to the external ACT Government logon before you can top up your card, so I will likely just use my debit card once my balance runs out on my MyWay+.

Achieved my personal goal of riding 10 buses in one day today, I would have ridden more if it didn't start pouring down when I was on 469, but alas. There was a minor issue with the MyWay+ readers on 469 and 719, but otherwise everything ran smoothly.

Quote from: L94UBbusfan on November 06, 2024, 08:59:42 PM431 had a different next stop sign, it said "STOPPING" in blue text, instead of the usual "STOP" on all the other MANs.

480 had the same Next Stop sign that I observed on 431 back in November, thought it was just a one off trial thing but it must just be a replacement sign.

833 (R3) QR still clunky but use successful
672 (R2) MyWay+ now working for R2 route - used card
487 (R2) Preceding bus "full", set down 2 but drove away without taking 2. Used registered CC card
004 (R1) QR used
815 Rear validator showed out of service - bus was correctly positioned at stop (Dickson Interchange Plat 2). Both validators were working at subsequent stops. For a near new vehicle very rattly and it also had a mild background squealy noise (like an air leak hiss)
411 (R3) Card used

All buses had working PIDs and no audio. Account correctly reflected journeys. So experience (apart from hard to use QR and one momentarily not working validator) is much improved.

Broke my record for buses in 1 day again, got 13 buses today  ;D

407 (26)

516 (66) - whole route from Woden to Cooleman Court, I was the only passenger after Coombs.
370 (65)
451 (R4)
384 (R4) - I find it odd that the Gas MANs don't have MyWay+, since they aren't expected to be withdrawn until 2026 at the earliest.

367 (57) MyWay+ validator not fitted,
658 (R4)
667 (R3)
MyWay+ card used (except, of course, rte 57 services).

Note: Drama on the R3. A child just starting term and moving up to high school missed the stop and started sobbing/panicking. Young lady passenger immediately tried comforting and devising solutions. Near Florey the driver involved himself and 'base', with the outcome the bus doubled back at the Florey roundabout and set the kid down at the correct stop (? - some doubt in my mind as to which school was actually wanted, Copland College or High? The latter is on the former 315 route but nowhere near an R3 route. Was the kid misguided? Perhaps). To again reverse course, the driver went directly all the way back to the Spence Terminus (there are suitable looping side streets, but no one suggested any to the driver and I was too far back and physically unsteady to go forward). Thence to the City picking up at intermediate stops as usual. Thus later still.
In retrospect change to a suitable destination sign, say 'special', and run express, set down only, would have saved a lot of time (the subsequent service was ahead). Schedule was Spence shops ** .58 and City **+1 .43. Actual was **+1 .02 and **+2 .05. In consequence I missed the planned rte 57 City to Hughes. So to plan B with fingers crossed. R4 3min late and on to Woden arriving 2min late. The same time as Rte 57 was due to depart in the opposite direction. In luck, the rte 57 arrived to start the service 2min late. End result was only 15min late, rather than 30min if I had waited for the next rte 57 from the City.
Such are the sagas of public transport. To their credit I heard no moaning and groaning among the many passengers on the R3.
