Referrence your ID photo, do you remember 'The Honeymooners'; was it Jackie Gleeson who played the husband-bus driver lead role as in your photo? Wondered if this show is being repeated on any of the Pay TV networks.

Amazing to see some of the ancient re-runs which are on offer from TransACT TV - such as "The Lucy Show" and "The Beverley Hillbillies". Be nice to see a few of the old westerns re-appear...like the Warner Bros trio of "Bronco", "Cheyanne" and "Sugarfoot". Then there was "Bat Masterson", "Laramie" , "The Lone Ranger", "Bonanza" and of course, "Roy Rogers" ...chuck, chunder!

Kramden

Yes that is ol' Jackie in my reference photo in the guise of Ralph Kramden, the world's first TV bus driver.  And yes, The Honeymooners screens on Fox Classics at 0730 Sundays.  It still cracks me up even though it was made over 50 years ago in glorious black and white.

Gee Smitho, showing your age owning up to knowledge of some of the shows you mentioned in your post...LOL!

smitho

Yeah, sorry didn't see your earlier reply re explanation of 'Kramden"..../now it all fits together and the significance of that name for all bus drivers / bus gunzels comes back to me. With my TransTV subscription I don't get that Fox TV station which you mentioned.

For the record, my buses on 31 July:

720 on morning S/R, then northbound Route 3 (yes, an artic through ANU - no dramas)
823 on 11 north, 729 south, 28 north

And for Friday 1 July:-

726 allocated for morning S/R, but had to ditch it as it wouldn't hold the air; instead took
715 S/R
890** on 11, 729 and 28.

**  Is this the 800 series bus you were asking about a few weeks back, Martin? It is a good one in almost every respect.

It was. I believed it had been transferred to Tuggeranong. Martin was fairly sure it had been but wasn't certain.
