Hi, I'm totally new to this forum and I'm going to honest right from the start, I'm not a bus enthusiast or fanatic.
I've joined this site as I don't know how else I can get information from those that love busses and information I'm after.
Bus advertising, is there any repository where all advertising is being kept.
It may be that in the earlier days they were independently fitted with loose fitting boards instead of the decals that I believe are now a commonly used. Or better still, is here any place these signs are kept in an advertising data base and accessible via the internet?
I'm specifically interested in early MediBank advertising from the mid eighties that shows specifics, like services and percentage of coverage. It's one of those signs that made me join MediBank but have found that the ads were false or misleading as the 100% coverage only applied to what MediBank believed the services should cost.
A knee operation may cost $3000 and MediBank decides it's only worth $2000, you're up for the difference, not a 100% coverage in my books.
So I'm after the actual advertising signs and call them to task.
Tell me if I'm out of line and if so, I will no longer pursue the question via this forum, however, I think there's a lot of people out there that feel the same way.
I now cancelled my membership to MediBank, which I have subscribed to for over 30 years and the privatisation is not going to benefit any of the members, of that I'm sure.

Our website is probably the closest thing you'll find as far as an online database of images goes. Each image added to our Gallery is tagged with the various attributes of the photo, including registration, model, route number and advertising. Advertising companies do keep databases, but I don't know if they would extend past a list of current advertising, and when it's due to be removed. I don't know if they'd keep the proof art - presumably these days they would but not much chance of them handing anything over.
To complicate matters, the advertising contract has been through a number of companies - in the last decade or two it's been through Bus Advertising, APN Outdoor, Buspak and GO Transit.

While not bus advertising – maybe try http://trove.nla.gov.au/ (http://trove.nla.gov.au/) and have a scan through old editions of The Canberra Times (or other papers).

There was a bus driver at Tuggeranong who used to keep a photographic record of all external adverts on ACTION's buses. Don't know his name but I could make enquiries about him.
