.2's Look ugly with the grey veloporter bike racks but they look great on Irisbuses and MAN 18:310 CNG's.
I like the .2's with them

I doubt that all buses will ever be fitted with bike racks. 14.5s, artics & darts will not get them. PR100.2 Mk2s should be plenty. They just need to do all the .3s.

Add 911 & 959 to the list.

Dame Pompously won't like that.

CNG

which .2 have the grey veloporter bike racks

Bus 400

Following on what I overheard a few weeks back, which bike racks do you all think is the most user friendly?

I did overhear a passenger telling the driver how the yellow bike racks are so much simpler to use then the grey bike racks.

They are. The seems to be a slight difference in the way you secure the bike and it is much easier to do on the older ones.

Yes, I can imagine the older ones have more trouble securing their bile..

Based on the details in the fleetwiki, ACTION have now over 200 bike-racked buses (if you count the 13 MANs not yet in service).

There may still be more with bike racks which have not been updated on the wiki. Since they appear to be putting racks on everything from 902 to 982 (and eventually 890-982), the following have not been reported to have bike racks. Can all interested bus spotters please keep an eye out for any of these and report if you see them with a bike rack.

908 917 939 940 944 949 962 970 971 973 976 977.

962
970
971
973

Snorzac

not to mention 977

I think (don't quote me here) 918 was without a rack

Buzz Killington

'MyWay' updated the article for 977 earlier today to indicate it now has a rack.

Barry Drive

977 has been seen by me with a bike rack. I would expect that 917 has one, but I've not yet seen it.

Barry Drive

970 and 971 have been recently seen with bike racks. And 962 has been seen recently without one.

Buzz Killington

Spotted 973 tonight with a rack.

Snorzac

Anyone seen 949 recently? I know 962 is still missing a rack, does 949 have one?

I wish 971 didn't have a rack, I liked having at least one of the dinosoar buses without a rack.

Barry Drive

Saw 949 tonight - still rack-less.

Buzz Killington

CNG

I wonder why 982 is loosing its bike rack?

Bus 946 is now rackless, but is in the big pile of buses at Tuggeranong bricks so a bike rack may be being reattached.

Barry Drive

Thank you for finding that error. Now fixed.

105, 109 and 113 are recent additions.

CNG

393 now has one of the grey bike racks like on 952 and the MAN CNG

393 has now got a veloporter bike rack. ???

119 now has a DL2. Is this the last bike rack addition in B depot for a while?

Barry Drive

Saw 120 & 121 today with bike racks.

CNG

are the DL2 the racks on the iris and man cng, aswell as 952?

Barry Drive

The remaining Tuggeranong PR100.3s have had DL2s fitted (haven't seen 125 yet but 123 & 126 have been fitted). Don't know if 903 has had a rack put back on after its smash repairs - it didn't have one last time I saw it.

Found this when browsing through twitter : in reply to tweets about lack of bike racks on "intercity" buses, Minister Simon Corbell replied:

Quote from: @SimonCorbell@Alistaireo by 30 June 2012, ACTION is projected to have around 80% of in-service (operational) fleet fitted with bike racks #canberra

Depending on how you count them, allowing for 18 more MAN 18.320s (and 18 PR100.2 withdrawals) plus the remaining 14 Scania K320s, ACTION's operational fleet at 30 June 2012 will be 448. Excluding the artics (33), Darts (25) and K320s (26) leaves 364 buses capable of having a bike rack fitted - which is 81%. If you were to also exclude the remaining Mk1 PR100.2s (~44), the percentage would drop to 71.

So it looks like the plan is to have bike racks on every available bus within the next 12 months.

Original tweets are as follows:

Quote from: @Alistaireo date=23 June 2011@SimonCorbell I love Action Buses!also love my bike. Why arn't more bike racks on buses?can't plan2catch bus Cause they don't all have 'em

Quote from: @Alistaireo date=23 June 2011@SimonCorbell caught a bus lately bro? esp intercity? Not close2a majority of those have bike racks. Make budget to get more or #laborsucks
