Here are some photos from the past few years, mostly of buses and routes no longer in service in Newcastle.

Sydney's Burwood Depot temporarily loaned Volvo 4929 to Newcastle for driver training in mid 2007. It's seen here at the base of Scenic Drive, Merewether, on the former Route 207 (which ceased in 2002) displaying Sydney's Route 207 on the desto.

11 August 2008 saw the transfer of Mercedes Mark IV's 2976 and 2978 from Newcastle to Sydney. 2978 is seen here at Hamilton Depot being fuelled about 15 minutes before it departed having just completed a training shift.

Mercedes Mark V 3092 seems a bit small in the landscape of Jonathan Street, Warners Bay, on Route 314 on 22 November 2008. This service ceased one week later. 3092 was transferred to Sydney a few weeks ago.

The first Government bus service in Newcastle in 1935 was Route 1 from Tighes Hill to Mayfield West, it was later renumbered to Route 101 and diverted via Mounter Street, Mayfield East. Route 101 survived until 2002 with the Mayfield East section replaced by Route 104. Route 104 was removed from Mounter Street three days after this photo was taken here on 26 November 2008. 3079 was transferred to Sydney earlier this year.

Mercedes 2984 operated the last ever Route 351 on 28 November 2008 seen here at Bank Corner, Newcastle West. Route 351 was the final limited stops service in Newcastle.

3 December 2009 saw Mercedes Mark V 3092 and Mark IV's 3064, 2984 and 3041 lined up at Hamilton Depot. All were transferred to Sydney over the following months with 2984 withdrawn on transfer.

Festive Volvos meet at Belmont Depot on Christmas Eve 2009 - the Belmont Depot Elf Express (1607) at left and the Newcastle Christmas Bus (4932) at right.

Some really great photos there, and thanks for providing a bit of insight into each one - really interesting stuff!

The photo of 3092 is superb - love that scenery.

Thanks  :)

Three more photos for now, then I might actually bother with some current ACT material...

21 July 2008 - 2980 temporarily departs Hamilton Depot bound for refurbishment in Tamworth.

The only two Mercedes O405Ns in the State Transit fleet, 3405 and 3406, do meet occasionally - this time at Newcastle Station Layover on 17 January 2007.

Volvo 1417 posed in front of the Pasha Bulker in July 2007. As most people probably know, the ship ran aground on Nobbys Beach during a severe storm the month before. Four weeks later it was finally removed from the beach and towed to a wharf in Carrington for inspection, which is where it is seen here.
