Vote now, and feel free to elaborate on your choice.

For me, its the Mk1 artics. Love the sound of them and they're great to travel on even as some of them are pushing 20 years of service.

lukeo25

I like the AC buses because they keep u cool in the summer

Irisbus Rider

I actually don't like any artics, with 4 speed gearboxes, it just doesn't allow as much flexibility as a 3 speed. The 4 speed gearbox will hold the gear for so long, not allowing a kickdown, and in turn making them fairly gutless.
I believe that high revs = faster acceleration.

Busnerd

John, all our artics are fitted with 3 Speed Voith gearboxes.

709 is the exception with a Four - Speed ZF, despite what you think by listening to it, this is the truth and unless you can get under the bus and look, they are 3 speeds :P

O305

I voted for PR180.2 Mk2.

I see nobody likes PR100.2s.

Buzz Killington

ok just who the hell voted for those shitbox agoralines?

Sir Pompously

PR100.3, just the normal Renault's do me fine. Orgasmic.

Buzz Killington

Busnerd

yes, apparently the 80 he was on before was also orgasmic as it was 103

Jack Bauer

Mine would be the MkII artic, because I like the paint job better than the MKIs, but besides that, the order is probably PR180.2; PR100.3; then PR100.2 MkII.

They're all 4 speeds now.

Busnerd

I can confirm that they are all three speeds still as i went on two of them today, i also heard another 4 of them take off, still three speed.

They havent upgraded them yet, thats what the $8million is for, new gearboxes and possibly engine reconditioning, it has not been done yet, I will let you know when it has been, but they are all still three speed except 709.

Irisbus Rider

It must be different in Belconnen then, the large majority sound and perform different, and have an extra gear :P

Busnerd

They do not.

Tell you what, we will catch one tomorrow during the morning peak and i will see for myself.

Irisbus Rider

Irisbus Rider

Well, after riding a 4 speed 709, it sounded ok, but a 4 speed 983 was better.....

So, I partly take back what I previously said about artics...

Busnerd

Irisbus Rider

Ha ha, No.

The spec sheets even state that the buses have 4 speed gearboxes too...
