Title: RiotACT-Shooting In City Interchange (1980's)
Post by: Bus 400 on November 04, 2009, 09:52:24 PM
There is a bit of an interesting thread on the RiotACT about a siege in the Sydney Building with a Police car was shot up on East Row, City Interchange. Does anyone here remember anything about it?
The thread can be found at http://the-riotact.com/?p=15371 (http://the-riotact.com/?p=15371)

I remember it somewhat.

That photo is part of the 'Caught in the ACT' exhibit now on at the Canberra Museum in London Circuit. Worth a look, even though the ACT policing AOA bus is not featured.

This happened during the first few months of 1985. There used to be a men's hairdresser and gun shop upstairs opposite the Bailey Arcade. The City Interchange spare bus (a Volvo B58 from Kingston depot) was unable to be evacuated and ended up staying there for the night. A police car parked behind it was shot to pieces and the bus did not get shot at and did not sustain any damage at all.
