While passing Canberra station yard this week, I've noticed quite a lot of earth moving activity around the northern tracks in the direction of Cunningham St. There is a pile of old sleepers nearby, so it looks as if they might be lifting surplus track in preparation for real estate 'development' in that area.
It was from this section of the railway yard that the Kingston to Civic railway branched off.
A remnant of the line remained as a level crossing across Cunningham St until several years ago and to this day, a short portion of the Civic railway track abuts onto the southern nature strip of Cunningham St.

That sounds interesting.. might have to go have a look..
Shame though that new development means some of this unique sort of transport history is being taken away..
The Civic line crossed Cunningham St at what is now a road junction between Cunningham St and a quite minor road whose name I forget...its the next one along from Printer's Way, going east (ie in the direction of the Railway Museum).
On-line maps still show the old line crossing Cunningham St and heading towards the Kingston power station.
