ACTION assault; alleged offender identified

ACT Policing is investigating the assault of an ACTION bus driver which occurred about 6pm yesterday (May 6).
Police will allege that a male passenger became aggressive towards the driver, punching him and spitting on him.
During the assault a female passenger came to the aid of the driver pushing the aggressive male off the stationary bus.
The driver later reported the assault to police once he had reached Woden Bus Interchange.
A description of the male was circulated and he was located by police at the City Bus Interchange.
The 49-year-old Griffith man will be summoned to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court for common assault, at a date yet to be set.
Police would urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident and are yet to speak to police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
