How long will it take?

My guess 20 years less if we're unlucky.

Miracle.

There is a lot of action around the workshops, when I walked past today at a distance it looked like they were applying fleet numbers to the front of many MK2s

Here is the list of the Renaults which will be fitted with bike racks, at least for now. This is from the permit which is kept in the bus:

PR100.2: 915, 926, 927, 928, 929, 930, 932, 933, 934, 946, 947, 948, 949, 950, 951, 952, 953, 954, 955, 961, 962, 963, 964, 965, 966, 967, 968, 969, 980, 981

PR100.3: 127, 128, 129, 130, 131

Since it's more than 20 either some will be the new style or else the old racks might start being taken from the Scanias.

955 has a bike rack
Title: Re: List of Renaults with bike racks

Add 953, they are taking their time. What is really hypocritical is that cyclists get free travel but people in wheelchairs still have to pay a fare.

They must have ordered more of the old style ones as there is 21 Renaults out there all will the old style, unless they had some spares lying around.
Title: Re: List of Renaults with bike racks

They probably did order the older ones. It's not as though they don't make them anymore.

Not really, they originally said they would fit every Belconnen 100.2 higher than 915. They've done that (excluding the Tuggy transfers).
Title: Re: List of Renaults with bike racks
Post by: CBRFlyer on November 30, 2008, 09:50:58 AM
Still have 915, 930, 931, 932 and 962 to come. When will they start with the rest. They said that all buses will have them. More .3s would be a good start, Belco have most of them

If you ask me they don't look that bad with bike racks. People say that by putting bike racks on the front of a bus but with some bodies it doesn't and the 100.3 is one of those buses.

Title: Re: List of Renaults with bike racks

Technically not new to the 100.2s, the first ever bike rack on a 100.2 was on 947 and was a black style one.

Just to be nitpicky!

Not Renault related but 359 has a new style as well, I also saw a Scania going around without one.

952 has the new style of Bike Rack.
The reason why 952 now has a DL2 model instead of a VeloPorter 2 might (or might not) be related to the yellow paint which can be seen on the wall at the Belconnen Interchange layover.
Title: Re: List of Renaults with bike racks
Post by: CBRFlyer on April 21, 2009, 11:29:54 AM
The paint may also be the reason for 359s change, anyway 966 has now got its bike rack back.

950 has a rack, we may as well just make this 'General Bike Rack Discussion'.

This months addition states that ACTION have purchased all of BT's bikeracks which would be what is going onto buses such as 390

The bike rack permits have been renewed - the bus rego ranges are as follows:
127 to 131, 300 to 463, 882 to 913, 915 to 969, 970 to 979, 980 to 982.

What's interesting is that the expected fleet numbers for the 14.5 buses (500 to 525) are not included.

How so? Feel free to use diagrams.

While I'm here, I should mention that several buses have recently been seen without their racks: 129, 931 and 949.
Title: Re: General Bike Rack Discussion
Post by: Bus 400 on October 07, 2009, 07:52:15 PM
Well the Government love sticking keep left signs on turns, so with the bike rack down the cornering would be a bit tight.
Title: Re: General Bike Rack Discussion
Post by: Barry Drive on October 09, 2009, 12:59:31 PM
I've realised why 500-525 were not included on the new permit - it is specifically for the buses up to 12.5m. If the 14.5m buses are to have bike racks, they will need a different permit since their overall length will be longer.

That's not to say that they will have bike racks, even though it seems to be Government policy that all new buses should have them. Time will tell.

I'm simply assuming the MkI's will get bike racks, as 'all ACTION vehicles' will eventually be fitted with a bike rack. I suppose it depends on how rapidly this rollout takes place.

I doubt that all buses will ever be fitted with bike racks. 14.5s, artics & darts will not get them. PR100.2 Mk2s should be plenty. They just need to do all the .3s.

Add 911 & 959 to the list.

I did overhear a passenger telling the driver how the yellow bike racks are so much simpler to use then the grey bike racks.

Based on the details in the fleetwiki, ACTION have now over 200 bike-racked buses (if you count the 13 MANs not yet in service).

There may still be more with bike racks which have not been updated on the wiki. Since they appear to be putting racks on everything from 902 to 982 (and eventually 890-982), the following have not been reported to have bike racks. Can all interested bus spotters please keep an eye out for any of these and report if you see them with a bike rack.

908 917 939 940 944 949 962 970 971 973 976 977.

Found this when browsing through twitter : in reply to tweets about lack of bike racks on "intercity" buses, Minister Simon Corbell replied:

Quote from: @SimonCorbell@Alistaireo by 30 June 2012, ACTION is projected to have around 80% of in-service (operational) fleet fitted with bike racks #canberra

Depending on how you count them, allowing for 18 more MAN 18.320s (and 18 PR100.2 withdrawals) plus the remaining 14 Scania K320s, ACTION's operational fleet at 30 June 2012 will be 448. Excluding the artics (33), Darts (25) and K320s (26) leaves 364 buses capable of having a bike rack fitted - which is 81%. If you were to also exclude the remaining Mk1 PR100.2s (~44), the percentage would drop to 71.

So it looks like the plan is to have bike racks on every available bus within the next 12 months.

Original tweets are as follows:

Quote from: @Alistaireo date=23 June 2011@SimonCorbell I love Action Buses!also love my bike. Why arn't more bike racks on buses?can't plan2catch bus Cause they don't all have 'em

Yesterday Bus 991 was fitted with a bike rack. Which completes the fitment of racks to all PR100.3s.

The current permit expires today. So very soon we can find out how far into the Mk1 buses will get a rack - my guess is somewhere around 856 onwards. By my very dodgy calculations, that will result in 80% of buses by June 2012 (346/430).
Title: Re: Hey there, Renault... Nice rack!
Post by: Barry Drive on October 13, 2011, 06:10:55 PM
Have finally seen new bike rack permit. In a surprising move, the fleet range is completely unchanged.

So unless a third (*) permit is issued, 80% by 30 June 2012 won't be achieved.

(* I say third because I assume 490 has a separate permit.)

It wont apply to them as they don't meet certain criteria on the permit, mainly the length and weight which are set somewhere around 13.8M and 16t. Obviously there is no intention to, nor does the permit allow for bike racks on artics.

After extended stints on the Tuggy bricks, 859 is now on the Belco bricks, minus its Wayfarer kit, but still sporting its new rack.

You reported 878 2 weeks ago, but not 876.

874 also racked.

Ok then, don't quote me on 876 but I am sure it is.

Latest sighting: 880

Forget earlier reports of 863 being at Belconnen for withdrawal - it was getting a bike rack fitted before returning to service.

Other recent new sightings are 881 884.

Which just leaves 872 873 891 and some Mk1s rackless.

Bus 850 now has a bicycle rack.

EDIT
Bus 851 was racked up today.

Other sightings this week: all remaining B depot Renaults (849 872 873).

Not yet seen are 857 858 891. Just need those confirmed and all Renaults in service can be counted as being racked.

Saw 857 stabled at Tuggeranong shed on Friday night - pretty sure it had a rack.

In the last two weeks, the above three have been sighted with a rack. So the Renault bike rack fitting has been completed.
