527 (R4N)
901 (R7S) that's got to be new today right?

Last time I caught a 'BUS901' was 3rd Dec 2018. Can't believe it was that long ago that those Renault's were around, the others kept kicking for so long.

Routes and Timetables / Re: Printable Custom Timetable...
Last post by Sylvan Loves Buses - December 14, 2025, 02:22:34 AM
Wow, what a journey it's been. I look back to 2021 when I made my first photocopy of an official 2002 bus timetable in prepartion for the ex-717 Composition Tour that is yet to happen. Had a lot of fun making this, it's saddens me that this'll likely never happen now. The tour may still happen one day, but for the moment I will share what could've been, had the rain not ruined the day that was to be.
.

It really pisses me off that the government shows a complete disregard for the less-abled patrons. The mentality of 'everyone should own a phone' nowdays is so very wrong. Yes, I could own a phone, yes I could own a car, yes I could have a life, but unfortunately money does not grow on trees in Canberra.
I was finding ways of managing the network for some time including one time during covid lockdown getting the 'whole lot' from a operations manager - only to find out several years later that I was using the 'Master Timetable'. I was not suppose to have that... it was super handy though, knowing where all the Renault's were going to be made life somewhat less sh*t.

In late 2022, the struggle was getting to me so I thought... "Well if they're not going to do it anymore, then I will". Even though the effort involved making all these bloody timetables is absolutely ridiculous, the results and usefulness thanks to the adoption of combination timetables (multiple routes per timetable) means I'm carrying around a handful of timetables instead of a literal BRICK. You go up to a Transport Office and ask them that you want them to print you the whole network, but they're going to say "no". Do you know why? If you print each page as it's laid out on the website, it's over 300 pages... I'm not going to carry a literal ream of paper with me every day, that's stupid (I see elderly people doing it too, it saddens me to see it). At least when I had the master timetable it didn't have all the useless information on it... some maps would've been handy though.

The look of my timetables has evolved somewhat over the years for which I've shown some of those adjustments on this thread. Major overhauls of the maps, the bus symbols and how many routes can fit into each. Countless hours lining up the pngs so when they print double sided, there's nothing sticking out (this still happens sadly) and a completely rewitten/proofread Discalimer and How To Use section to make it easy for anyone to read/use. The knowing of the bus types from the master timetable is what originally gave me the idea to include bus symbols in the timetables. Knowing if your bus is Wheelchair capable or doesn't have a bike rack or which depot it's coming from (that one's for the enthusiasts) I think is a great thing to include on a timetable, it just sucks that TC have such a hard-on for withholding this information to such a degree - the other states certainly aren't as bad. Finding Anytrip was a lifesaver when it came to finding the buses on the routes. Combining Anytrip and the fleet wiki makes the last part of the timetable design (kinda) fun. Obviously it's a little harder now with half the Woden fleet not showing up all the time, was easier a couple years ago. "Oh no, the bus isn't showing up... must be a Renault or Iris" - simpler times.
This latest batch of timetables certainly wasn't always easy to produce and I'm really hoping this next network sticks for the full 2 year period of the bridge works, because I need a break from all these changes - I'm sure a lot of Canberran's feel the same way too.

A bunch of you I'm sure have the original Network '98 bus pack. I may have 2 of those packs, but unfortunately they were incomplete packs. I'm not going to cry about it though as I finally have my own bus timetable pack. Tada...

That is a lot better/lighter than a ream. 30-something timetables squished together combining however many routes the current network has, including Queanbeyan and LRV services. Easy to use templates gathered from Networks '98 through to 2002, utilising the compact 'pocket sized' design from 2005-2010?.
The next network is going to probably suck, but I'm happy I've finally got a network done... for once. I've yet to explore updated Corridor timetables, I'll attempt to dabble in a couple of those during the break.

Damn they look good. I love the shock on peoples faces when I tell them I'm still using Microsoft Paint to do these :D
A couple look small, these are timetables I've finished recently that do not include bus symbols. Given how unreliable the data tracking is at the moment and given the holidays + a new network are on the way, I decided not to bother. Wanted to get the network out of the way, but I'll try to do it for the next one.

Network 2025 (August 31) includes:

So would be right in assuming that once this comes into affect, we will likely not have another network change/adjustment until 2028 unless something drastic happens?

Yeah no clue what that's about, it's not like the word has an offensive meaning or anything (even words considered offensive don't have blocks as far as I know)

Anyway, nothing special this week apart from riding 381 for the first time since July and making a miracle connection on Monday.
Monday (8/12/25)
381 (R4) - now ridden every MAN CNG at least twice this year
377 (30)
694 (R8)
715 (26) - My connection from 694 to 715 was so good I was congratulated by the driver upon boarding

Tuesday (9/12/25)
802 (31) - MyWay+ readers and PID non-operational
393 (23)
375 (R4)
716 (R8)
707 (26)
I saw the Tuggeranong R8 run I usually get wasn't showing up on Anytrip (which pretty much means it's an L94 as this driver NEVER takes MANs) but it was just 638 with a broken reader/tracker  :'( . That really ruined my spirits as that was the only reason why I caught the bus and it was pretty hot too.

Today (11/12/25)
422 (25)
486 (R8)
892 (R2)
637 (30)

Just looking at the map again, I feel like moving the 180/181 (back) and R7/R10 on to Parks Way & Tuggeranong Parkway would help alleviate some of the congestion on the bridge. Sure there's a ton of mayhem on the parkway during peak and bad weather but I'm sure something similar will probably happen on the bridge over the next 2 years too. Sacrifice a couple stops for maybe slightly faster travel on most weekdays.

Also the R4/5 only service a small portion of the southern suburbs anyway and the woo hoo 180s are great... for the Lanyon MP area people.
Half hour frequency R4s at night when the weekends aren't touched, bruh just make the R4 a bi-hourly service and convert the 59 into a rapid already cuz clearly the ANU corridor needs those buses more.
