I wasn't sure where to put this, but I wanted to see if I could come up with a redesign of the current Rapid route map. Noting that TC has described the network as a hub and spoke model, I wanted to play around with what that looked like, visually. So I created the following map to represent the frequent routes in the current network.

I have included route 59 and the Cooleman Ct to Woden route as they both operate like rapid corridors (mostly). You'll also notice a distinct lack of radial routes connecting these hubs with still a very city-centric network. Hopefully with this in mind some improvements can be made to improve cross-city travel that avoids travelling through the city. Anyway, enjoy.

Probably off topic but I've always felt the R3 should continue from Spence to Casey, it bridges one of those ever-so-close connections, connecting Gungahlin with West Belconnen without having to catch three buses.

That said the R3 is already quite long so perhaps something like the 43 would be better suited to continue to Casey to terminate or given the lack of space, it could run as a loop back to Belconnen again.

Bus 400

Hopefully the R3 is extended once the CSIRO land is developed. Surely straightening the R3 to just use Copland Dr & something else covering the missed areas.

Secondly, returning to topic. Great map, I'd just move the explainer for the Coleman connector. At the moment, it looks like you're saying the 64, 65, 70, 71 continue to Queanbeyan.

We could ask the question, where is the regular service the same as a rapid frequency. Namatjira Dr in Weston Creek & Tom Roberts Avenue in Banks come to mind.

I should really install a love react option.

Or Hall. Taking into account its population, the second worst served community in Canberra. (Uriarra Village is the worst.)

Probably taking this really off topic now, but I think Hall and Uriarra Village should have their own shuttle services (just like how Ginninderry has the 903). I don't think demand from either suburb would warrant a full time bus service or rapid, but an hourly shuttle service from Casey to Hall, as well as from the future Molonglo town centre to Uriarra Village would do the job. The only issue with Uriarra Village is that there may be some issues with the roads and logistics considering it is a lot further away from the main part of Canberra compared to Hall.

Also I absolutely love the idea of extending the 43 to Casey Market Town, it would finally give Gungahlin residents a different way to get to Belconnen. Hopefully this will happen once the CSIRO land is developed.

You could also continue the 43 onto the 27 or 28 given they're both short...Im not a fan of having buses terminate at Casey, there's insufficient parking, if you could find a way to through run the 27/28 it would be great

I have been looking at some options here too as I create another version of my redesigned network. I've added a few new rapids and cut a few back (by splitting them to create two routes with separate destinations). By reducing the frequency of other rapids (ie from 5 per hour to 4 per hour - which actually creates a far more user-friendly timetable) I think it can still be achieved with the current fleet.

For Spence to Casey, I've extended the R9 to cover this section and re-routed the R3 and R2 for greater coverage. Here is a little sneak peak before I finalise my full network re-design. You'll notice I've also included some route corridors with rapid frequency, some have been created with some minor re-routing. I've also introduced two new expresso routes to close the eastern loop to the many business parks.
