Route 40 is a suburban feeder route that operates on a loop from Belconnen Interchange via Kippax, Charnwood, Fraser, Flynn, Melba, Scullin, and Page. Route 42 runs in the opposite direction.

- The route was initially proposed to from Belconnen Interchange to Fraser West via Page, Scullin, Higgins, Kippax, and Charnwood. The final version operated via Latham and Florey, with Higgins, Scullin, and Page covered by Route 42, Route 44, and Route 45.
- Selected services only operate between Dickson and Belconnen or Dickson and City
- Selected services diverted via St Michael's PS and Kaleen PS during school term
- The route was amended from 30 January 2023 to operate on a loop from Belconnen (paired with Route 42 to reduce layovers at Fraser West Terminus.
