Here are 2 more Renaults with bike-racks. I still haven't seen a bike on one yet.
Action bus 963 at Woden. I think the colour clashes.

Action bus 966 at Belconnen with 345 coming into view.

Buzz Killington

at least you can still see the Renault Badge and the ACTION logo on the .2's

Irisbus Rider

Good photos,.

The bike racks actually look alright on the .2s.

CBRFlyer

They look better on the .3s though. I have seen a bike on 129 and 928 both on the 313

Ha, good to see drivers are picking it up so quickly. Honestly, I think bike racks are enough on the Intertown, they don't really need a low floor bus on it.

CBRFlyer

It's just the 1 driver. She normally has 129 but sometimes brings another ,3a or an Iris (normally 310). It was just last Monday when she had 928.

She drives the 3:45 bus leaving Belco. I think she leaves tuggs at about 2:55

CBRFlyer

Forgot to mention she has a very short temper

Irisbus Rider

Ha ha, I'll have to get that bus one day, and test her temper :p

Oh, and 310 is a dog. 300 is the only decent one (my fave), it goes better than 991!!!

Having said that, 928 is fairly poor too.

CBRFlyer

I agree 310 is a dog 304 is the worst though

Irisbus Rider

That and 306. Unfortunately, many others too.

Got 310 with a driver I know, and when he put his foot down, there was about a 5 second lapse opf power, and when the power camne, it was poor!

CBRFlyer

#10
I was on 306 today it sounded shocking. It barley made it into the interchange, it pretty much stopped and rolled back. That happened to me on 117 once, the driver had to roll right down to get power up

The best way to get that driver going is to play loud music or stand when there is heaps of seats and get in the way of other people getting on.

Irisbus Rider

Ha ha!

Yeah, 306 was involved in a nasty rear ender, and ever since it went to get fixed up, it came back completely different. I think, in the accident, the engine got damaged, but wasn't fixed up properly, and now is like this.

CBRFlyer

That may be the bus that the back panel at the side of Belco workshops comes from. It has being there for ages though. When a bus is involved in a minor accident is it towed or driven to the depot?

Irisbus Rider

Probably one for the drivers, not sure myself, but my 2c is that if it is drivable, it will be driven, otherwise, it's a job for the tow trucks.

CBRFlyer

While on the subject of crashes, I heard something about 320 a while back being involved in a major crash, I think in the 914 crash thread on this forum or ATDB, what happened?

Buzz Killington

320 was heading up Barry Dr thru the lights at Clunies Ross when a person turning right from Barry into Clunies Ross went through on the red and hit the right hand side of the bus, right at the back.

Correct, except there is only one tow truck. Sometimes the mechanic drives the bus back and the driver takes the breakdown van.

Irisbus Rider

Ah, ok, thanks for that information.

I bet that'd be a change for the ACTION driver, to take the breakdown truck back to the depot, ha ha!

Buzz Killington

the breakdown VAN, Renault Rider. I imagine thats the little tarago style vehicle.

CBRFlyer

No the breakdown van is the truck. When 113 was doing my school run and stopped at the school the driver said it had a flat battery and that we could wait on the bus for the breakdown van to come

Jack Bauer

Confusion! The breakdown van is not the tow truck.

Busnerd

They have tarago's which interchange inspectors drive.

They have hino trucks which respond to on road problems incl flat batteries

or the big mack truck used for towing

CBRFlyer

I'm pretty sure that they are mitsubishi fuso those trucks

Busnerd

I have a photo of truck 0389 which is indeed a Hino

I've only driven the breakdown van (and yes I realise it is actually a truck but it's always referred to as a van by the radio room) once and I stalled it.

Buzz Killington

i still remember my school bus driver stalling 811 one day, heh

CBRFlyer

On a weekend 300 last year my driver stalled 329

Irisbus Rider

A driver kept stalling a STA Scania CNG bus after attempts to backfire it :P

Sir Pompously

Irisbus Rider

Not the halal type, he can successively backfire any bus he steps foot in :P
