Hi everyone,

I'm a little late posting this but a few weeks ago on rail, I was lucky enough to get swapped over from my Scania K94UB into the Iveco (fleet number 225) out on the road for my last 3 trips operating route 49 trips Express between Hornsby and Gordon. The bus is still on loan from Iveco. Man, does this bus go or what! It's similar to a Volvo B12BLE in power, but has just that extra bit to it. There is no kick down on the pedal but it will kick down automatically, again, like a B12. To go up a hill, the trick is to hold the pedal in the one spot, not to aimlessly push it flat to the floor. It then kicks down and accelerates.

There are 3 settings for the retarder. 1 is Shorelink spec where it pulls gently off the accelerator. 2 is STA spec where it's on the brake. 3 is CDC spec where again, it's off the accelerator but it pulls harshly. Of course, you can always turn it off.

A massive let down is the ugly dash. Especially after driving the Scanias, which have beautiful dashes, these are hideous. But, again, that's the only let down. It shows you which gear you're in (1 to 6) and the gear selector is from the push of a button. The air con works well too. Again, like a B12, it drinks quite a bit. Also, there is no battery switch, you just turn the key on and it turns on!

Here are some photos.
1. is at Hornsby at the end of the trip
2 and 3. are at Waitara infront of my baby Holden Commodore SS-V dealership at Waitara whilst specialing back to Gordon.

Looks very nice indeed, any photos of the 'ugly' dash?

Superb photos too.. Does this vehicle have a rear destination display or just the front?

Wow, love the photos, they're simply beaut, great work!

Pleased to hear that positive report about IVECO, I just hope it makes an influence amongst operaters.

Generally, what do TSL think of the IVECOs?

ScaniaDriver

I'll post the dash soon.

Other drivers sum it up similarly - ugly dash but goes really well. Iveco actually came out last Tuesday to re-tune the engine so it would kick down a gear a little earlier, which is of course a good thing as it then doesn't lose as much speed on a hill. Now I want another drive!
