Looks like the 787 (7Late7 maybe?) will be in service with a few airlines very soon with ANA of Japan been the first. The 787 test aircraft in their livery will be leaving the US for the first time next week for "Simulated in service Training" for the ANA pilots and ground crew. Delivery of the first 787 should follow in late August some three years behind.

Delivery should then soon follow to JAL and China Southern in quick succession with Jetstar receiving their first 787s late next year.

Should be fun. Junket to Japan at QF's expense?

PS: For oldies like me, 'ANA' means Australian National Airways....so was taken aback for a few seconds when I first saw Zac's reference to ANA getting a Dreamliner.

You're going to Japan again? Surely you must be getting sick of the place.

Boeing test aircraft ZA002 in full ANA livery was yesterday welcomed to Tokyo's Haneda by a water canon salute. The aircraft will now commence a week of testing in Japan.

In other news regarding Boeing development we should see the delivery of the first 747-8F to Cargolux in Q4 this year. The 747-8I should be early next year!

Oldie? You would have to be ancient to remember that! *Runs away in other direction*

I wish it were at QF's expense, at my own sadly. Japan, South Korea, Canada and USA.

Looks great in ANA Livery, now we just need a Pokemon one to complement the 747.

EDIT: A CNN Article on the Dreamliner's touchdown in Japan http://www.cnngo.com/explorations/life/dreamliner-arrives-tokyo-503115

No need to run away (not just yet, anyway).  Remember that the ANA acronym survived long after ANA had been absorbed into Ansett, and the combined airline was known as "Ansett-ANA" for quite a few years. This was followed by "Ansett Airlines of Australia" handle from about 1964 onwards. I'd be interested to know whether any of Ansett's first generation B.727s carried the Ansett-ANA name & livery.

Boeing is expected to announce the delivery date for the first ANA delivery on Wednesday.

In other 787 news, the first 787-8 for Jetstar is expected to enter the final assembly line at Everett in the month of August.

CBRFlyer

Unrelated to 787 news but the 747-8F is now fully certified, delivery should take place in the next few weeks to Cargolux.

CBRFlyer

Boeing are reporting via Twitter that certification on the 787 is expected to be completed today (US Time).

The Boeing 787 has now completed test flying, delivery expected in about a fortnight.

QuoteEVERETT, Washington — The flight testing is done, the Federal Aviation Administration has issued its approval and as of today Boeing can say the 787 Dreamliner is certified to carry passengers.

The FAA presented Boeing with a type certificate and production certificate for the innovative composite airliner during a ceremony at Boeing’s factory north of Seattle. The pieces of paper mean the Dreamliner can begin commercial service, and they represent the culmination of several billion dollars of investment for the aerospace giant and almost as many headaches.
