Neither Element had MyWay+ equipment, nor PIDs.
Both exhibited a very intrusive high pitched whine rising in pitch and volume as the bus gained speed. Overall, I feel that the Elements need a lot of development still to become a selection of choice for customer experience.

Was walking past the Westfield stop when 750 operating route 24 appeared. So, having time, took the trip to Gungahlin. Waiting for next R8 back, 748 operating a route 25 pulled in. Made the round trip. Next R8 turned out to be 748 again. So, 50% of Element fleet in successive trips. Fortuitous events.

Today's trip ended up being free. The driver of 451 said the reader wasn't working and the CNGs and Elements don't have MyWay+.

Also noticed on Monday that 811 had a Red Energy ad on top of its Electric bus wrap, surely they could've put the ad on a bus without a wrap on it already.

720 (R4) - I noticed there are 3 R4 services that leave Tuggeranong in roughly 5 minute intervals, but often the later 2 services catch up with the first service. Today it was 497 which left Tuggeranong first, followed by 644 and then 720. But, despite 720 being the last to leave Tuggeranong, it arrived in Belconnen first, meaning I was able to make the connection to....
367 (R8) - one of 2 L94s I've been hunting for a while now, just 341 left to find now, unfortunately my chances of riding 341 are very slim considering I haven't seen it since July and it should be the next one withdrawn  :'(

All trips were free today due to a fleet wide MyWay+ system outage

Sylvan Loves Buses

Yeah, I almost got 347 myself today... probably should've waited an extra minute.

This NotMyWay system is a joke, how are issues still present almost a year in. Like 1:5 buses I ride now will have the front reader stop working for no reason saying 'Card Transactions Not Allowed' - the literal thing it was designed to do - and most of the back ones work fine. It's ridiculous.

893 Another random opportunity and service I wanted. First day in service.

The recent deliveries have brought fleet numbers into service for which I have had a ride record of a previous same numbered bus. The first recent example occurred on Sept 3 when I rode the current 884 and have a ride record for Renault 884 on 15/1/15!  This, together with some trial bus number repetitions and the Ponchos, has forced me to face up to adapting my records kept in an Excel file  >:(  >:(

Long trip just to get 2 photos of buses at the new TCH stop. Although I've learnt there's a camera covering the bus only entrance. When a non bus vehicle enters, security comes out & tells the drivers dropping/picking people up off. If only there was an area near the main entrance for pick up/drop off 🤔.

A bit unclear to me what you are getting at. The Pick Up/Drop Off for the Main Entrance is right at the doors, at the end of the Hospital Rd section accessed off Bateson Rd..

Something a bit different to my usual travels...

Thursday (2/10/25)
QANTAS Dash 8-400 QF2309 Canberra to Brisbane
Brisbane Airport BYD Carbridge Toro (didn't get the fleet number) - my first BYD bus caught since electric demonstrator BUS 710 in 2018.
QANTAS Airbus A330-300 QF61 Brisbane to Tokyo Narita

All of the following trips were taken on the Tokyo Metro
Friday (3/10/25)
Hibuya line
Saikyo line

Yesterday (5/10/25)

The Tokyo Metro is so spectacular and well organised. Services are so frequent and pretty affordable too (roughly 300 yen for an average trip). The system is a bit hard to understand (especially since everything is in Japanese) but I've figured it out slowly but surely. I've been using the train as my sole mode of transportation in Tokyo and it has more than done the job.

In comparison to Toyko, I found Nagoya's subway system much easier to understand, although the trains are less frequent and the network is less extensive compared to Toyko, which is expected in a smaller city. I've also noticed that it isn't all that uncommon to see public city buses with a manual transmission, a rarity in Australia.

Also geez the Shinkansen is impressive, 250-300kmh the whole trip, makes Australia's long distance trains look like a laughing stock.

QANTAS VH-QPD Airbus A330-300 QF60 Tokyo Haneda to Sydney - would have been included in Thursday's travels since it was meant to depart at 10pm, but the flight was delayed by 2 hours and didn't take off until around 12:30am, which led to me missing my connecting flight to Canberra  >:(
Sydney Airport QANTAS International to Domestic transfer bus (some MAN bus)
QANTAS VH-VYC Boeing 737-800 QF803 Sydney to Canberra - after over 24 hours of travel and several lengthy delays, it was nice to get a 737 for the flight home (had WiFi as well but no seat back screens, not that it mattered for a flight this short).

Final Japan post, I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to rely on public transport as my only mode of transportation throughout my trip, the only city where I thought transportation could have been a bit better was Hiroshima, but even it was better than Canberra  ???
