- The route was planned for introduction in May 2012 as part of Network 2012.
- It was intended to replace the City to Dickson segment of Route 002 (2008), which was proposed to operate to the National Museum.
- The final network saw the Museum covered by Route 007 (2008), meaning that the change to Route 2, and the introduction of Route 1, were not required.
