Notes
- The route was initially planned for introduction in July 1998, however Network 1998's commencement was subsequently delayed until January 1999.
- Route 244 (1999) provided a peak extension of Route 44 to the City and Parliamentary Zone.
- In 2005-06, evening services were provided by Route 944 (2005).
- From December 2006, evening and weekend services were provided by Route 904 (2006) and Route 905 (2006).
- The route was proposed to revert to seven-day operation in Network 2008, but ultimately remained as a weekday service.
- The route was modified through Belconnen Town Centre in June 2008 (to exit the town centre via Benjamin Way), May 2009 (to service the temporary bus stations following the closure of Belconnen Interchange), and November 2010 (to service the permanent bus stations).
- The route was modified in November 2010 to service Macgregor West.
- From September 2014, inbound services terminated on Emu Bank at Lake Ginninderra College, while outbound services commenced at the last stop on Eastern Valley Way before Emu Bank. The service was also extended further along Macfarlane Burnett Ave in Macgregor, and was amended to no longer service Scullin.
- The initial proposal for Network 2014 was for the route to operate through the three bus stations out of the usual order - Cohen - Community - Westfield on outbound services, and Westfield-Community-Cohen on inbound services.
