- The route was split from Route 041 (1971) in January 1977.
- This change was made to allow Latham residents to transfer to Route 016 (1968) at Higgins Interchange to travel express to the City and Woden.
- The route ceased to operate upon the opening of Belconnen Interchange in January 1979.
