- The route was initially planned for introduction in July 1998, however Network 1998's commencement was subsequently delayed until January 1999.
- The route was amended in September 1999 to travel via Corinna St on southbound services
- The route was amended in January 2000 to operate via Holwell St, Cowlishaw St, and Anketell St to Athllon Dr (instead of Pitman St) on northbound services.
- From April 2005 to June 2008, night-time services were provided by area service Route 960 (2005)
- While initially proposed to continue operating seven days under Network 2008, from June 2008, Route 62 operated on weekdays only, with weekend services operating as Route 962.
