Route R5 is a Rapid service that runs between Lanyon Marketplace and Rimmer St Bus Station, via Calwell, Wanniassa, Woden, and City.
The route will be extended to Belconnen from February 2026.

Notes
- When introduced in 2019, the route operated between Lanyon and City via Calwell, Erindale, Wanniassa, Woden, Forrest, Barton, and Russell. The initial proposal did not include Forrest, but extended to City West.
- The route was modified on 18 July 2020 to travel direct between Woden and the City. Route 59 was introduced to provide travel to Forrest, Barton, and Russell.
- The route was modified on 3 December 2022 to travel via Vernon Circle and Constitution Avenue due to the raising of London Cct. It resumed operating via London Cct, and the new at-grade intersection with Commonwealth Ave on 18 May 2025.
- The route was modified on 30 January 2023 to commence/terminate at the ANU, and to service the temporary Woden Interchange.
- The route was modified in June 2025 to operate via Easty St due to the closure of Callam St for construction.
- One PM service to Lanyon commences at Alfred Deakin High during school terms.
- The route was modified from 31 October 2025 to access Woden Temporary Interchange via Callam St (north) and Matilda St.
- The route was modified through the City during January 2026 due to construction of Light Rail Stage 2A.
- The route will be extended to Belconnen from 2 February 2026 to help replace reduced frequency of Route R4 (2019).
