The Featured Buses for September/October 2017 are Buses 963 967 & 971 – Renault PR100.2 Mk2 buses

Buses 963, 967 and 971 were Renault/MACK PR100.2 (“Mk2”) buses bodied by Ansair Tullamarine, which entered service with ACTION in mid-1992.

These three buses featured the longest-surviving painted special livery, which encouraged Canberrans to “Take ACTION (to) conserve our fossil fuels.” All three buses retained the special livery for their 30+ year lifespan.

These buses were affectionately referred to as the “dinosaur buses” and were regularly used for charters for pre- and primary- schools, including bus wash tours.

The livery on these buses was sometimes mistakenly believed to be an advertisement for the National Dinosaur Museum, due to dinosaur skeletons featuring in the design.

Bus 967 was withdrawn from service on 4 May 2020 and is now in private ownership. Bus 971 was withdrawn in April 2023, with Bus 963 operating its last service in July 2024.
