864 (R3) Another bus with front validator not working. Driver remarked it was ok earlier in the shift, and that vibration (jolts too??) is suspected to be the source of these failures.

889 (R9) There is a traffic calming hump in Watkins St approaching Battye St.. Even with a quite cautious approach the protection skid banged on the hump. I have only experienced this in the Yutongs, and despite assurances, remain to be convinced that the approach/departure angles of the Yutongs are no worse than other types in the fleet. Actual data in degrees and minutes would be conclusive.

I wonder if the box that's protected with seel bars under the Yutongs is to blame.

Worked perfectly fine on the drivers following services as well, just issues on that one R3 😂

579 (R4) - Now here's where the real interesting bit starts, while I was waiting for 385 at Rimmer St I saw 384 pass by on an R4 to Belconnen. I didn't think much of it at the time, but on my way back to Belconnen I overheard someone saying "?? on Barry Drive" on the driver's radio. I wondered if something was wrong with 579, but on the other side of the Barry Drive hill I was greeted to the sight of 384 with its engine hatch open pulled over on the side of the road. My bus and 730 (which was on an R2) had to pull over in the middle of Barry Dr and 384s passengers were spread evenly across the 2 buses. I asked someone who was on 384 what happened and they said 384 lost power going up the hill. First breakdown I've witnessed since April 2024!

Yeah no clue what that's about, it's not like the word has an offensive meaning or anything (even words considered offensive don't have blocks as far as I know)

I'm really glad I signed up to PTCBR when I did as today a small group of us got to have an exclusive tour of the Woden Bus Depot. Was more fun than I expected and we were given permission by the Depot Manager to take/share some photos. Had an explore of the drivers building (including the signing room, canteen and gym), an extensive look throughout the charging areas, the workshop and we also got to go in the 'pit'. At one point I asked if we could get an opportunity to look underneath an electric bus and just before the end of the tour they hoisted 839 so we could get a squiz.

I received emailed instructions a couple of days ago. Specifying meeting point. Arrived 20 mins early and parked right across from the meeting point. No one turned up so after 1/4hr elapsed after start time I left, wrongly assuming that it got cancelled due to someone being affected by the outrage in Sydney. Very disappointed as, at my age, there probably won't be another opportunity for me to join in.

A couple of us were there 40 minutes early, you must've arrived at the wrong hour.

Had a couple of goals today, one of which was to try to see the remaining L94s sitting in Tuggeranong Depot. They were pretty easy to find, I got some photos (from outside the depot of course) which were ok but nothing great. 373 and either 367 or 372 were missing a panel behind where the bike rack would be, but the other 2 there (351 and 371) were intact from what I could see. Also saw 961, 970, 971, 972 and 978, surprised they are still there after being withdrawn almost 3 years ago now.

Funny, I've never had my ticket inspected on any PT in Canberra. I think the only time I've had my ticket inspected on PT was on the L1 in Sydney a couple of years ago but I can't quite remember. I wonder how they'd check a mobile phone bank card tap on (like Apple Pay or Samsung Wallet) or even a physical credit/debit card.

The MAN CNGs aren't running during the school holidays so I couldn't even ride them. I ended up going out to Denman Prospect and as I mentioned Tuggeranong Depot to see the L94s, which was nice. I mainly focused on riding STAG/Artics and Yutongs and other buses that interested me, but it was quite different without the L94s, last year I went on so many crazy bus trips and made so many crazy transfers just to ride any CNGs, it's kind of weird not doing it anymore.

No PT for me today, used the car (shock horror)  :-X  :o

Busnerd

They check a mobile phone/watch etc. in the same way as checking a physical bank or travel card, they tap their device onto your device which will advise if it has been tapped on or not.

There are new devices for TC/CMET staff to check tickets, now a mobile phone (previously a green non-phone device), unsure what specific the NEC app? does and how it compares with the software/app Sydney uses.
