Nine bus stops across Canberra are being upgraded to ‘major’ bus stops, with $1.75m allocated in last year’s ACT Budget.
ACT Chief Minister Katy Gallagher told The Canberra Times that the major stops would include shelters and bicycle racks.
The sites have been selected based on current and projected patronage.
Two stops on London Circuit were recently upgraded to major bus stops.
Stops to be upgraded include Yamba Drive at the Canberra Hospital and the northbound stop on Athllon Drive opposite Mawson. These will be completed by the end of the month.
Kings Avenue, Commonwealth Avenue and Russell Drive will each have two existing stops upgraded by the end of June 2013.
